Here is the text from the attachment to give you an idea of how to do it. The attachment has detail pictures. Please let me know if you have any questions.
- Buy an Intermatic HA20
- Remove the screws on the back
- Remove the screws on the inside and remove the circuit board
- Use a soldering iron to remove the solder between the two points below
- Use a sharp knife to cut the trace that you just removed the solder from
- Use the soldering iron to overheat the pad you just cut so it we delaminate from the circuit board
- Unsolder the white wire for it current location
- Solder the white wire to the relay pad on the back
- Reassemble
- Cut the end off of an old lamp power cord and add crimp connections
- Attach to your garage door where your wall opener attaches
- Pair to your z-wave network and plug into where the open plugs in
- From devices in your vera it will show up as an appliance outlet. Just rename it to Garage Door. To open just press on wait a couple seconds and press off.
Why not just buy a LFM-20 ?
I am using a ZFM-80 relay. Combined with an Aeon Labs door/window sensor and the garage door plug in, it works great.
Thanks for the reply’s. Good information. Never heard of the ZFM-80 before.
I had several of the HA02’s laying around that I bought last Christmas for $10 a piece and was wondering if I could it instead of buying the LFM-20.
I too am using it with the Garage Door plugin and the Aero Labs door sensor. Works great and makes it look like a door lock to vera which is very cool.
This solution is very similar to my setup and works nicely (though I used a GE appliance module and a cheap relay from Radio Shack). Go YouTube (Garage Door Automation with Z-Wave - YouTube) for that one.
One upgrade that I wanted to put into place was a notification as to whether the garage door is open at a certain time of day (say, before I head to bed).
I may just be missing something, but this does not seem to be straightforward to do. Has anybody figured this out? If so, could you lay out the step-by-step instructions. I keep thinking that I know how to make it work, but the scenes never do anything. [BTW, I have figured out notifications, just not timed notifications if that is the right way to say it].
Thanks!
