How to convert a LRM-15 dimmer to on/off switch

Is there a way to program Evolve dimmer to a on/off switch.
What are the parameters or the functions I have to modify?
Thanks for your help, I am new on this technology!!

Not that I know off. Are you looking for straight on to off and off to on? Not sure if the ramp rate can be changed. How are you planning on using the dimmer?

Not sure it supports programmable rates, based on this recent topic.

Side note: as @garrettwp alluded to, even if you could program the rates to mimic on/off behavior, it still wouldn’t be the same as an actual on/off switch, in terms of what loads you can switch with it (i.e. things other than incandescent lighting (or equivalent)).

You could swap out the D_DimmableLight1.xml for the D_BinaryLight1.xml to give the illusion of it being a straight On/Off switch, but in reality it’s still a dimmer.

I know from the manual that the ramp can be programmed.
I have no idea how to program it though!

I have a few ACT dimmers, ACT is now Evolve (I believe) so it’s possible, they use the same params.

  • In my situation using ACT dimmers* I would need to use variable 7, 9 & 11 each with the value of 99 to ramp On/Off at the maximum rate.
IIRC, 7 is the variable used by the controller (Vera) 9 would be pressing the switch and 11 would be via an association. But don’t quote me on which is which.

If not already done, maybe also try the GE/Jasco parameters (7+8, 9+10)?

There also are some threads on that.
