How to add Vera to another Vera through UPnP?

I was trying to use a second Vera Lite to solve range problems with a couple of devices that far apart, and behind a heavy wall.

However, I can’t get the two Vera devices to see each other through the network. I followed the directions here (very straight forward):

http://faq.mios.com/content/2/17/en/how-to-add-_unit_name_-to-another-_unit_name_-through-upnp.html

Both devices have successfully found both IP Cameras, my TV, file servers, and Sonos devices. But neither can see each other. I know the IP addresses and could set them up directly if I could bypass UPNP discovery.

Any advice?

I also had problems in the beginning bridging two Vera’s, ( Vera 3 to a Vera 2).

I found that both Vera’s needed to be hooked up to my lan using a wired connection. For some reason they would not see each other over Wifi. I also have them both setup with a static address. After they found each other using the UPNP discovery process I put the slave Vera 2 back in wireless mode and all has been well since then. Hope this helps…

If you are using static IP addresses make sure you are NOT using the default 192.168.81.X for either of your Vera’s. Change it to something else like 192.168.1.X.
