Hi, I have a GC100 and would like to configure to add IR devices, however I can’t find the suitable IR device in the list, how should I go about adding the device in the list. Thanks.
Get your GC-100 plugged in and connected to Ethernet. You will need to know its IP address for a following step. I use Global Cache’s iHelp app to find it. Next, you will install the Global Cache plugin on your Vera (it’s on page 7 or 8 of the plugins). Vera will install the device and then you need to go into the device settings and enter the IP address of your GC-100. Then Vera will restart and you’re ready to start setting up scenes for using the ports. Fun stuff.
Thanks CMRancho, What I meant was I can’t seem to find the device list of the IR codes I need. (example TV code for Panasonic TV) there are quite a few models, however, none of it is working… I will have to use iLearn to add the codes, but how do I upload the codes to Vera so that it can recognize it. Thanks again.

Essentially you’ll need the pronto codes which can be gotten a few different ways.
hi @strangely, thanks for the tip… I have read through but still not able to understand how I can upload my codes to vera and using GC100 to select the codes. I have all the pronto codes needed. Thanks.
Are you running UI4 or UI5? If UI5, then you may want to try the new AV/IR tool on the latest UI5 beta and see if it has your codes.
Exactly which devices are you trying to control? (model numbers etc).
Thanks for the reply @strangely, I am tring to control an air conditional unit by Fujitsu, a TV on Panasonic and a media system for now, want to learn on how to do it. In UI5, what I did was the following:
Add device>select Add IR device>select GC100>select the required port> select category (TV, in this case), however the model that they display did not match what I need… I did saw some other models that might be customize, therefore I would like to do it myself but am stuck after I manage to get the Hex code for the ir controllers. Do I really need to write a XML to upload the IR codes?. Thanks for your advice again.
Can you list the models?
Also did you update your Vera UI5 to 1.3.322 yet? There is some much improved IR learning functionality built in (although I doubt this will work with the GC100), and also what seems to be a bigger IR database. There’s also a note about further support being added March 15th (maybe a further updated database)
The easiest way to start is by creating something similar (it doesn’t matter that it doesn’t work at this stage), once Vera creates it locally from the database, you can then download the newly created I_xxxxxx.xml and file the from within the section labeled Apps>Develop Apps and Luup files. Once you have them download to you computer you can very easily copy and paste the new pronto codes into the same respective places of the old pronto codes within the I_xxxxxx.xml file. Once you have completed the above for all actions (Volume, Power, Numpad etc) you just need to re-upload the file back to Vera again from the same place as above and you should be good to go with nothing further to do.
The whole thing is actually a lot more straight forward than it seems! Its a little bit of effort, and a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get going its easy!
Thanks @strangely, will explorer further into it, by the way how I find the files in my vera and create it? I am currently in the older firmware version.
By the way, I have an SQ blaster can I use it to generate the codes, convert to I_xxx.xml n D_xxx.xml files and upload to use it for GC100?
Short version, no.
Longer version…
The SQBlaster itself will handle Pronto codes being sent to it, along with a few other styles that are more native to it:
a) a code from it’s internal IR Blaster chipset
b) a code from it’s private Installer-catalog
c) an SQBlaster learned code
When you use SQRemote, it builds config files ([tt]devnnnnnnnnn.xml[/tt] files) that use SQBlaster’s internal/native codes (a…c above), and not ProntoCodes.
I thought you could create a plugin from an sq remote backup usin the translator?
You can, but it’ll create a plugin that can only talk to a SQBlaster ![]()
Thanks all for the assistance, how can I create 1 that is able to talk to GC100. Any steps that I can follow? Like how to create a similar XML files. Sorry guys, I m a novice therefore may not know much about configuring XML .
When you say older version, which version exactly? I need to know this so that I can answer this:
by the way how I find the files in my vera and create it
Hi all,
There are several brands of TV (D_xxx.xml and I_xxx.xml files) available in MIOS Developers - Luup files with UI4. I just downloaded them then upload to Vera3 (UI5) Apps> Develop Apps>Luup files, then go to Develop Apps>Create device, fill in Device type: “urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:tv:1”, Description(device name), Upnp Device Filename: D_xxx.xml, Upnp Implementation Filename: I_xxx.xml , select which IR port of GC-100 as IR transmitter . Then create new scene to control the TV. My Vera3 is running 1.5.344.
However, the AV/IR tool is not working at all for GC100 when I add new IR device. I choose guided setup to select appropriate brand / type of device . Under the testing infrared codeset, when i click any button, it will return error message that " NO IR BLASTER ".
Is there anyone can tell when will this feature work in the web dashboard even though it showed “should be fully integrated into the web dashboard by March 15, 2012.”
The files you downloaded are for UI4? They will not work with UI5 unless they have been updated for UI5 support. There were changes made between UI4 and UI5 plugin support.

Yes, the files were downloaded from UI4. I didn’t know the UI4/UI5 plugin issue. But I tried this way for Toshiba TV and LT TV and they basically worked fortunately.
I created a new bug report in Mantis on Saturday see
http://bugs.micasaverde.com/view.php?id=2271
There are several others incidents that have also not been resolved, it is a matter of watch that space.

For what it’s worth it does not work for me even though I have the latest Blaster Plugin loaded in U5. The plugin shows up fine in the Dashboard and says it’s happy and active. Anyone get it to work in U5, Vera 2, 1.5.346 ?
