How the "controlled via" works and how to reverse it?

After my garage lock stopped responding I decided to use “controlled via” in advanced setting and selected “thermostat” instead of z-wave. I assumed (may be wrongly) that Vera will communicate to Schlage lock through the thermostat instead of communicating directly.

As a result I’ve got this:

Also, lock configuration failed. I removed lock from the network but still had the same layout showing up on my dashboard. I added lock again and it was added as a new device with the different number. I tried to play with the light switch and came up with the same results.
Now, how I can reverse it and remove lock and light switch from the Thermostat tab?

Thanks to the MCV support team status quo has been restored.

My advice: Don’t play with the “controlled via” menu unless you know exactly what it does (or doesn’t).

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Did they tell you anything about the problem that is worth adding to this thread? Or how “controlled via” works, what it is for, why it is there, etc?

No, they just fixed it by cleaning configuration at the low level. After I changed “controlled via” to Thermostat in my experiment and refreshed page I still had "controlled via Z-wave"showing on the lock property page. Apparently it’s a feature of UI2.
Now everything looks OK but I still can’t control lock reliably.

I also suspect z-wave chip bug, my garage lock is the most distant device in my layout, so Vera probably tries to communicate directly to the lock instead of using devices in close proximity (i.e. thermostat or light switch). Let’s wait for the fix…

If the lock is distant from Vera, a light switch in between will not do the job. You need a beaming module as the last hop to the lock in order to talk to the secure class device. The Schlage lamp module is a beaming device I use, but I assume there must be other devices that handle this now as well.

I understand that, but I also have Schlage thermostat installed just in the middle of the path between Vera and my garage lock and I believe Schlage thermostat is a beaming device.
