First - won’t work in Win7?
Second - The box I received does not match the instructions that came with it, nor the discussions here. Yes it has the “Vera” Label on the front.
My box has two black buttons, one labeled Z-wave and the other with no label, there is also a small red reset button recessed on the far right. In the paperwork that came with it, it shows the button next to the power plug is “WPS”, but it is acutaully labeld “Z-Wave”. What is WPS?
The paper that came with it showed the UI3 screen (I assume) with the floor plan. But I don’t have that.
I am so disappointed with the documentation. The flash instructions don’t say a word about not working in Win7. Where do I go from here?
Yes, I submitted a ticket yesterday. But the only response I got was a “CC” email forward to another person.
I purchased this unit a few weeks ago. It came with version 1.0.989.
I have never NOT had to upgrade a device after purchasing, so I am not worried about that part.
I have been trying to load UI3, but I can’t get it to link to pc when I hold the reset button.
My unit has three buttons on the back labeled (left to right) “Reset” - (no label) - “Z-Wave”
The procedure for flashing the device, from what I read said to hold the reset button until the power led flashes. I have tried that and the power button never flashes, the unit powers up as normal. So I tried the unlabeled button, (which the Mac instruction identified as the “EZ-Set Up” that caused the unit to appear stuck in the startup sequence, the power, eth2, wifi, usb1, usb2, and service leds all stay lit.
I didn’t notice until this evening, doing this in the dark, that the power led never blinks, but there is another led below it, behind the plastic that is red and blinking when I hold the reset button and let go.
When I hold the unlabeled button for a minute or so, the power led never starts flashing, but when I let go I can see a slight hint of a red led below the power led that is flashing.
With a network cable connected to eth1 and an IP address set to 192.168.81.2, I tried running to run the program “Rescue” pulled up the firmware version wl500gP_Luup_ui3-1.1.319-1, but the response I get is “No wireless device in recovery mode is found”.
That page you’re looking at in the wiki could probably use even bigger text stating that rescue is only to repair corrupt firmware. At first glance, it appears to be documentation for the standard firmware flash process when actually it is not. My hunch is that you’ve got a Vera version 2 based on your other post, and the top of that wiki page says that rescue is for the Asus-based Vera v1 units only.
You should be able to upgrade by going to Downloads under the Advanced tab. There should be no need to push any buttons as part of the process.
