How do I stop Vera UI7 from recording video on motion detect. Cisco Cam...

I have a Vera Edge and a Cisco WVC210 PTZ IP camera. I am running the Cisco plugin/App in my Vera. The Cisco has motion detection capabilities and I just realized that Vera is recording the streams when the camera detects motion. I just went through the Cisco camera admin interface and didn’t see any way to disable the motion detection. I also checked Vera and didn’t see any way to prevent Vera from recording those clips. This camera is used on my reef tank and has no security value so I don’t have a need for recording anything from it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Assuming you are running UI7 (Green color scheme)

Click on the > next to My Modes which will bring you to the configuration page. Scroll down until you reach the camera section. Switch recording off for whichever of the House Modes you dan’t want the camera to record when tripped.

Thank you very much! That was a big help! I never would have thought to look in modes but then again, I am new to Vera so I really appreciate the response and info! I just made the changes.

Silly unrelated question. Is there anyway to decrease a motion sensors range via the Vera interface? I have a Linear Z-Wave motion sensor that I put on my front door frame to activate the front lights if somebody is coming to the door. It’s up high enough that I think it’s getting triggered from passing cars that are over 30’ away and turning on my porch lights as a result. I’ve added some electrical tape to the inside top of the sensor lens to decrease it’s range which has worked a bit but it would be nice to adjust it from the interface as opposed to a bandaid or in this case electrical tape approach.

Thanks again for your help!

Vera is not able to decrease the range as the sensor does not have variables to set for that. I don’t believe it has any internal jumpers or settings for range. The easiest way to reduce the rate is to mount it at an angle downward so the beam doesn’t reach as far before it hits the ground. Or in case of your front door. Can you mount it above the door on like the stoop facing downward? That would reduce the range drastically to only right in front of the door.

Mounting it on an angle would be a viable option. I’d just need to make a bracket for which is easy enough. Now I just need to find a small piece of aluminum which I should have floating around here someplace. Thanks for the suggestion and the help! It’s very much appreciated!
