So I’m just starting with my system. So far I have a vera lite and I ran out and got a utilitech siren and water leak detector. Got it set up just great. sets off the siren and sends me an email. But here’s the question.
If the siren goes off at home and I’m not there it’s going to wail until I somehow log in (don’t use ios or android) and turn it off). I’d like to put a button someplace that when pressed would turn the siren off.
Can that even be done?
Kind of expensive 24-30 bucks for a button that will most likely never get used.
Alternatives that I haven’t thought of?
Source for cheap zwave buttons?
Have to keep this simple otherwise they will revolt on me.
Did you create a scene to have it notify you? Within the scene you can set a delayed action and that delayed action would be turning the siren off. I don’t have the exact siren you have so it may not present itself in the scene setup UI with an ‘off’ button to press. If it doesn’t you can go to the advanced editor of the scene and set the status to 0 (off) that way.
Awesomeness!!! Yes, I did set up a scene to activate the siren. I went back and added a delayed action just as you suggested and set it to turn the siren off in 5 minutes. I’ll give it a test and see how it works.
Thanks so much. I can see this is a very flexible system and I’m going to be posting here a lot to learn all the in’s and outs.
