I have seen some cheap 12v DC solenoid water valves.
Could any advise how I could switch these on and off. I’d like to be able to switch about six of them independently. Is there such a thing as z-wave DC relay i could use?

Yes the MIMOlite is that, but the cost would not be worth it for that many. Itach makes some relay options. Not z-wave but you can control with vera via plugin.
I’m not sure what you need it for but why not just get a sprinkler controller that can be controlled by vera? I use open sprinkler.
You can use one iTach - Relay … it gives you 3 relays … communications is via WiFi and is supported in Vera by the GC100 plugin.
Two of them will give you six low current relays.
