Horstmann troubles again!

This is the most frustrating product I have ever had to deal with >:(

The Thermostat is working: I can change the temperature and it reports the room temperature back. It also has the radio sign on the display showing that it is connected to the ASR-ZW receiver.

The 2 are grouped together.

I can turn the furnace on or off manually from the ASR and when I poll it its comes back as “success”. But the ASR does not stop the furnace after the room temperature reaches the temperature set on the Thermostat, the furnace just keeps burning.

I cannot set anything on the dashboard for the ASR (failed, error code 1).

What am I missing???

Can you control the ASR from the thermostat, i.e. if you turn the thermostat up high enough so a little flame appears in the display, does the ASR kick in and turn the boiler on? If yes, then this might be as expected. If the thermostat had not turned on the ASR when you turned it on manually, it might never send the command to turn it off.

I think the Thermostat will issue an Off (or On) command periodically, depending on the interval configured on the DIP switches, but that might be a 10-30 min delay.

I will look into that. Just for my understanding: the LEDs on the ASR should be what in normal operation, red or green? When I press the ON/OFF buttons, does that mean I’m overriding the HRT Thermostat? Is it normal that I cannot change any ASR settings on the dashboard?

Not sure about the LED colors

You can manually turn the boiler on and off on the ASR, and control it from Vera as well (set the control from “Off” to “Heat”), but at some point the thermostat will take control again.

I have turned off the ASR manually and set the HRT to 30 C over an hour ago. The ASR did not turn on. When I try to turn the Heat on on the ASR via the VERA dashboard I get the delivery failed msg.

Sounds like there’s a routing issue, or the ASR didn’t get included properly into your network

Got the HRT4 working with the ASR, after excluding and re-including the ASR again and pairing it with the HRT again. But now the HRT4 is no longer responding to dashboard temperature settings and does not display the correct room temperature. All I get is the "Failed, waiting to retry when the node …’ error

The HRT4 will only respond to Vera when it wakes up, and to respond to commands I found that the HRT4 wakeup interval has to be set to the lowest allowable value, which is 300 secs IIRC. To check whether it is still talking to Vera, turn the dial on the thermostat, and check if the number updates in Vera (it should do so more or less instantly).

I change it to 300, but the HRT is no longer responding to VERA, saying that It Cannot Send Command to Node. Polling comes back with Success. Unfortunately I ran out of time and had to return to the US (the Thermostat is in a European vacation home).

Not being able to see the temperature in the home with winter coming makes me nervous and I won’t be able to go back until late December …

Is there anything I can do over the Internet to fix this?

P.S.: When I try sending commands to the HRT from the VERA dashboard I get the Device Not Configured error - I guess I am out of luck again??

PPS.: When I click “configure node right now” I get: “Getting the name” and then “Unable to get any information on”.
