Horror :( Devices are not adding.

Hello Guys,

I just bought a new vera2, as i’m trying to add new devices I run in to a lot of trouble.
What’s happening is like this: I plugin the adapter, put vera2 (click Z-wave, so it blinks) in
add mode, walk up next to the device put the device in pair and then just nothing happens.

It seems that no device is pairing at all.

Ok, let’s go to the old AON usb labs, setup the inlcude mode on the usb stick.
Walked up to the device and it recognize it directly… (I have a Vera 1).

Any clue why Vera2 isn’t adding devices? Please some advice is more then welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Possibly it’s the “Failed to go into learn mode” error but since you are on batteries you cant see it.
Try adding a device through the dashboard, see what displays.

JOD.

You might want to check to see if your Vera2 is Primary or not. there have been a couple of anecdotal reports on this board on new Vera2’s being received and mysteriously not being the Primary controller.

My Vera2 went to “Primary: No” all on its own (requiring a weekend-long rebuild of the network/scenes).

Go to Toolbox → Z-Wave → Options and make sure you see:
Version 3.20 L:1
Role Master SIS:NO PRI:YES

.//A.

Please tell us what is the device involved, and also how many devices you tried to add.

As @JOD suggested above, try adding devices through the dashboard (so through your browser) first. That may give some more clues as to what is happening. Pay attention to the status window in the top right. Use a test device that you can take close to Vera and/or do a full-power inclusion. Also, do an exclude, before an include, just to make sure the device is ‘clean’.

…and you mentioned the presence of a Vera1. Are they both “active” at the same time at the same place ?

@nickx: were these devices previously paired with your Vera 1? If so, you’ll need to unpair them before you can add them to a new system.
