Honeywell L5100 as secondary Z-wave controller to Vera Lite?

I see this thread:

I have a Vera Lite as my primary Z-wave controller and the Lynx L5100, complete with their TotalConnect 2.0 service.

I’m looking to have Vera trigger off of arm and disarm events to do things like set-back the thermostat and change some light settings. Has anyone done this?

As an added niggle, I’m also considering a Nest thermostat. I see the Nest plug-in, so I’d like to have the L5100 send a Z-wave command to Vera who would, in turn, control the Nest.

Am I in wishful thinking mode here, or is this really possible?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

If you can control any device in Vera from your L5100, you can control all devices in the Vera from your L5100. I don’t know anything about the L5100, but I do know that the Nest plugin can be controlled from the various mobile apps like any other Vera thermostat device. One part of the Nest plugin is an on/off switch, just like a light switch, that will set the thermostat to “home” or “away” mode, which is effectively a temperature set-back/forward. (Or you could set specific heat or cool setpoints, turn the HVAC mode to off, heat, cool or auto, etc., if you preferred.)

Let us know how it goes!
