Honeywell Ademco Vista Alarm Panels Plugin via AD2USB

Same here…

Does anyone have documentation to connect the AD2USB to Vera running UI7?

Thanks,

John

Need help with partitions in Vera. I moved a zone to partition 2 so that I could check its status when armed in my Vista 20p. In Vera I entered 2 partitions in the “Ademco Vista Alarm Panel” app. I also added keypad addresses to the Vista Partition. The zone is showing green when its supposed to be tripped. Could someone give me
a hand trying to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I just ordered an AD2USB from amazon and should have in a couple of days. In the meantime, i’m trying to get up to speed with all the information in this topic- it looks pretty daunting at the moment.

In any event, I’m trying to get prepared and at least have all of the necessary equipment to start hooking things up when the AD2USB arrives. I understand a mini USB cable is needed to connect the module to the Vera and I believe some 4 conductor alarm wire is needed to connect the module to the panel. Is there no alarm wire included with the module? If not, does anyone recommend when to get some inexpensively? I only need 20 ft max. Or is there an alternation that can be used- like telephone wire?

Also, I’m going to be using this with a Vera Light, which has one USB port. Does anyone know if I can attach a hub to the single port so I can connect the AD2USB and a flash drive for logging to it?

Thank you in advance for any thoughts and help.

The AD2USB does not come with any of the required wires. It requires a mini USB cable and ANY 4 conductor wire will work. Telephone wire, specialty alarm wire (we sell this on the official ad2usb store site), ethernet pairs, etc.

Unsure about the hub, never tried - I’m sure you could configure logging to a syslog server or something if needed.

Thanks for your response and information. I’ll try to get by with phone cords laying around that would otherwise go untouched. I appreciate the help. I have a feeling I’ll be back for more soon.

Has anyone actually got it working where an entry door fault, with the system armed, will show up in Vera using the AD2USB (with Virtual relays) and a Vista 20P? I have it working with a wired motion detector and it works great. When I try it with an entry door it works when the system is unarmed, although the fault clears after a few seconds even though the door is still open. But it doesn’t work at all when the system is armed. I have a 2 partition system if that matters. Any help would be appreciated.

I have hardwired door/windows sensors and hardwired motion detector. I’ve setup virtual relays and I can see !REL messages in the raw log when the door is opened closed in armed state, but Vera is not “seeing” it for some reason… only when system is disarmed. Wired motion sensor is visible regardless of the state, but not wired door sensors. Did anyone get it to work?

As I mentioned a few months back - I was getting notifications any time any zone tripped. Each time a door, window, etc opened I was getting notifications. Then it stopped for a long time and I was in bliss. All the sudden, it started again this week. Anyone else encountering this again?

Default setting for TTL is too long, which shows zone in fault when they are cleared. I changed mine to 15 (15 seconds) which will show status change after 15 seconds. Everything is working on my Vera Edge UI7, I do have the issue with receiving notifications for any armed points, even though the system is disarmed. I just disarmed by doors and left the windows armed all the time. I set the alarm to only arm the doors when the Alarm is armed. It’s nice to have 24hrs coverage for windows in case Alarm is not armed, anytime they are opened, since I rarely would open them.

My only issue now:
The notification does not include the point description shown below, only the Device ID, with the SMS or email messages? It looks like the quotes are there for the description, but actual description is missing? The description will show correctly on the Vera mobile app through?
Need to get this corrected to know which zone is faulted, without needing to memorize the Device IDs and have to go to the app for faulted point. Any Ideas?

VeraAlerts plugin allow you to customize your alert to the wording of your choice and allows you to send that alert to different devices/accounts. There is also a vera alerts Android app for push notifications.

These are system generated alerts, not user created. Therefore, Vera Alerts is not seeing them and cannot make any changes to it unless I create new alerts…which duplicates the alerts created from Vera controls. I really don’t want to manage too many apps. This appears to be an issue with Vera and and opened a support ticket with them.

Please let us know if they provide details in the cause/solution for this. My notifications have stopped again but if they start again I’d be interested in that information.

Good morning,
I’m trying to get my Vista 20P panel to work with my new Vera Plus controller that I received last week. Currently I’m getting the following error across the top of my screen in a blue bar

GET_LANG(system_error,System error) : Device: 48. Fail to load implementation file D_Codeset_1086.xml.lzo
Vista Alarm Panel : Connection down.

Vera has a bit of a learning curve, so it took me quite a while to figure out when to enter the KeypadAddresses. I had been looking under the Apps, where it says “Ademco Vista Alarm P”, in the advanced settings tab, instead of the under Alarm Area, “Ademco Vista Pariti”, advanced settings. My physical Ademco 6160 keypad has an address of 17, and the AD2USB adapter has a default of 18, so I put 17,18 in the variables section.

I’m not sure where to go from here. I emailed Vera support, but haven’t yet received a response, and I tried calling, but I don’t think they have the correct times shown on their Customer Support page. They show 12:00am - 6:00pm PST. 12:00am is midnight, so somehow I really doubt they are open 18 hours a day. I’m sure they mean 12:00pm, which is noon.

Good afternoon all,
I’ve had my Vera and AD2USB for about a week and a half, and I’m getting a lot of triggers and scenes set up. I’ve started using some basic PLEG commands, but I’m having problems interfacing with my alarm panel using PLEG. I posted a thread over in the Lock, Motion & Security Control thread, but I haven’t gotten any responses. I’m posting a link over here, as it may be the more appropriate forum.

In a nut shell, I can’t seem to get PLEG to arm my system when something triggers it. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t use PLEG but if it can run Luup maybe a work-around like this will address the issue:

    luup.call_action("urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:AlarmPartition2", "RequestArmMode", { State="Armed", PINCode="1111"} , DEVICE_ID_NUM)

The final argument in the function should be the device ID number of the partition.

Edit: fixed state name

Are you storing the pin code somewhere? I have it load up something in the vera startup process. If you think it is related to that, let me know and I will look up the code.

Is there a way to create a device for the letter D on the panel? I have my garage door setup on a set of contacts and would like a device to easily open and close the garage door.

thanks

Hi–

Does anyone know how to increase the polling of the Visa 20P devices. Vera still reports doors as open for 15 minutes after they have been closed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I’m pretty sure you can increase or decrease the TTL values in the app on the Vera. The TTL value tells the Vera how long to keep the zone reported as ‘faulted’ (door open) before it checks again. E.g. Let’s say the TTL value is set to 60. The garage door is open and Vera detects this. A countdown from 60 now occurs. If the garage door is still open at the end of 60, it stays faulted/open for another 60. I think that’s how mine used to work, not able to check at the moment but it’s worth playing with the TTL value.

EDIT:

The above was taken from post 969 I this thread, it says the same thing I am saying. TTL values need to be changed

That’s exactly why I came here, I’m looking for the same solution. I’m sure I got an answer to this once before but can’t find it! Will search and if I find it, will post here.

EDIT:

Ha! Found it! Not as difficult as I remembered it to be… http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,13311.0.html
