Nice, looks to have the sort of horse power and efficiency that we need!
It’ll be interesting to see if they manage to be able to port all the plugins over somehow, or if they’ll have to start from scratch?
Cool, exactly what the market needs and a little competition in the hardware controller space for MCV is good for us ![]()
wow- most homeseer stuff is way more expensive than vera but that says “under $300”.
If you are referring to their “Troller” line of products, those are usually professional-grade equipment, with low-level Z-Wave debugging, AFAIK, hence expensive…
Thats the Pro version we were pushing for!
Do we have a HS spy on the team? ;D
JOD.
Hey, my Vera 2 is pretty new, so it probably has at least a 1GHz processor. Maybe two. And little rubber feet on the bottom.

even the software is pricy- I own a copy trust me ;D ![]()
You have to get your own hardware- then add their software- their basic software along costs close to a vera. Then you have to pay for each add on. Or you could just plunk down $600 for the version with the add-ons.
Even if you have an old PC lying around- it’s a bit more then vera in my head. If you have to buy your own hardware then it’s more.
Seems the mini is vera+ level of hardware with at least the basic level of software. So it’s a “deal”

JOD.[/quote]It would be funny if it turned out to be running MiOS and it out MCV had done a deal with the Devil ![]()
Looks like LG is putting a toe in the game too:

so far it looks like just their appliances that have built in wifi can be controlled by a phone app. Some blurb too about smart meters. But one funny bit says they’ll have a roomba vac type robot with at camera that vacuums your house but you can perhaps watch what it sees on your phone?

point is everyone and their brother seems to want to get to “the masses” so MCV needs to get moving with their stuff too.
Here’s LG’s new tablet used with this “Thinq” thing ![]()

Somfy throwing hat in the ring too…
Other thread started this morning http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=5228.0
looks like motorola too is getting into the action.
looks like they bought “4 home”
they have something at CES.

but still hush hush NDA land about what they are doing. So nothing immenent I’d guess.
Anyone tempted to give the homeseer controller a try? Does it run their full software or will it be a dumbed down version?

I am almost definitely going to give this a shot. I ran HomeSeer for a couple of years controlling my X-10 system and it worked great, and was easily customizable. Vera has been fine for me for the past year or so, but I still don’t trust it, and not hearing from any MV employees on the board in a long while is not very comforting.
Thought I would respond to this thread… Here is the FAQ post over @ HomeSeer’s forum about the HomeTroller Mini… Sounds like a pretty cool little device!

I’m sorry to say it, but I have moved on from my Vera to HomeSeer. I got in on the 1/2 off software sale they had a few weeks ago. So fare I like it a lot, but the learning curve is definitely steeper than Vera. I’m hoping their actual vendor support will help me finially get my DIY HA project looking less DIY!
Homeseer told me they hope to have it available mid summer. It will have some video/image functionality.
I see it this way, if it can run a customizable client such as HS Touch, I’m gonna give it a try! HS is an excellent product, they provide good support, and its much more customizable than Vera.
As much as I am tempted to try the minitroller, It will not be out until summer and I still have hope for Vera. Still not sure how limited the minitroller will be and how the control via smartphone will be.
I’m sure if they do their homework before releasing, and they’ll realize what a great asset having some different control options will be!
I for one would find it very difficult to move from Vera because of SQremote, but if it was available with the IR stuff on HS then would consider giving it a try.
