I have been playing with these zwave and vera lite devices for almost 8 months now and for the life of me and all of my research I have yet to see anyone that successfully set up a Home and Away mode.
In a perfect world I would want two complete set ups that can be entirely activated by simply opening the app (vera) on my phone and clicking “Away”.
Anything???
Further just for an example… wouldnt it be nice to have all of your sensors and thermostats doing something completely dependant on if your Home or Away?
When I leave home it would be nice to have both termostats shut off completely (my taste), and have the motion detectors and scenes turn on… all reversing when I arrive home…
who wouldnt want that?
Perhaps if you described your specific issue, someone could help. What you have vaguely described so far is basically possible with a few scenes and a virtual switch for your home and away modes. If you want your scenes to be a bit complex or smart, then you’ll need to use PLEG.
There are lots of people here on the forum who have described their setups with the house doing different scenes when people are home or away.
How do you decide if you should use scenes or PLEGs? If you hant to have multiple conditions automatically trigger home or away mode, for instance your and your wife’s phones leave then away, you should use PLEG. If you just want to click a button and have all the lights go off nd the locks lock, then a scene will do.
