Hikvision connected to Vera behind router

I have a Hikvision 2632 connected to my Vera 3 (Lan 192.168.81.xx) and it works well when I am on the same network. I can live stream, save pics, etc. The problem is I can not access the camera when outside my home network.

My network: Modem to Linksys as my router. I have the Vera connected behind my router (Linksys Lan to Vera WAN). I have started going down the port forward route but have noted different views on whether this is a decent idea or not. I have several ports on my Linksys open to Vera but I am not sure how to port forward on the Vera to get to the camera.

Any suggestions ?

What do you have in the URL settings? I have a DS-2CD2332 with /Streaming/Channels/1/picture as the URL and it works flawless outside the network without opening any ports.

VERA is not your router, so you don’t or won’t need to port forward in it. Port forwarding is only setup in your router.

When you say can not access the camera from outside what do you mean. Do you mean using the vera app? Which app are you using? Or do you mean the camera web UI or using a non vera app for the camera?

Do you mean using
