HELP with a GE45601 remote and Vera3 UI5 working together

Need some help please. Vera3 with UI5

I have installed a GE HA01 duplex outlet and want it to control a lamp from Vera3 and a GE45601 remote.

How do you pair the GE 45601 remote to the Vera3…step-by-step on a Vera3 UI5?

How do I turn ON the lamp at DUSK and OFF at 11pm in Vera3. There is NO good information on how to do this step-by-step for UI5.

I also have a GE45601 remote that I want to use to turn ON the lamp with and preferably use the NUMBERED KEY CONTROL setup for key #1. Found a few posts regarding the remote but can’t get a simple answer.

I can get the GE HA01 outlet to work with a Vera3 manual command or the remote but not both together. I can include the HA01 outlet into the Vera3 and get it to turn ON/OFF the lamp but then cannot include the HA01 into the remote. If I exclude the HA01 from the Vera3 and include into the remote, the remote will work to turn ON/OFF the lamp but then cannot include the HA01 into the Vera3.

Any help is greatly appreciated before I trash this stuff.

With the old X10 modules you could turn on a lamp load and the X10 module would click ON…but not this Z-Wave stuff, thus the need for the remote. X10 may not have been 100% reliable but it was much easier to setup a working system.

Found this but it’s mostly for UI4:

Good place to start…

Also some zwave modules do support load sensing, which are you using? The GE plug in module stuff does, but you need to activate it by setting a device option. It looks like the duplex outlet does not. If that is a desire there are other brands that may, just look for load sensing as a feature. I think the order of work is get Vera to pair with your outlet or zwave device by including it via Vera. Then you want to make the GE45601 a secondary controller to Vera. You cannot have a single zwave device part of two primary controllers (the behavior you are seeing).

To pair the 45601 with Vera…have the remote and Vera very close together.

UI5 → Devices → Add device
Click “Add” next to “Advanced Z-wave devices” (last one in the list)
Look for (BUT DO NOT CLICK) “Add one” under “For battery operated handheld remotes”

On your remote:
Press and hold SETUP until “LGHT SETUP”
Scroll right to TRANSFER (should be 5 presses)
Hit OK
Scroll to RECEIVE (2 presses)
Hit OK

Back to Vera UI5, click “Add one” under “For battery operated handheld remotes”

Vera will include the remote, and that’s it.

Now to assign a key to a light, this is done with the remote and device only (no Vera):
Press and hold SETUP until “LGHT SETUP”
Hit OK (screen says “ADD” now)
Hit OK (screen says “TO NETWORK”)
Scroll right to “TO A KEY” (1 press)
Hit OK (screen says “SEL DIGIT”)
If you want button one, press “ON” for key 1 (screen says “LIGHT 1”)
Hit OK (it will say “setup waiting” at the bottom of the screen)
Press the button on the receptacle
Screed should say “SUCCESS”

Now you can turn on/off the light with the remote by hitting “LIGHT” and then the On or Off side of key 1.

Thanks Purdueguy & aschwalb,

That tidbit of step-by-step info now has my GE45601 remote functioning using button #1 ON/OFF to control the lamp. The Vera3 UI5 can also via UI5 dashboard manual control, turn the lamp ON…and…OFF as well.

It’s just amazing what a bit of effort and knowledge can do from someone who cares by providing accurate information to a stranger that should have been provided by the Micasaverde whatever they are.

I guess now I need to create a scene in Vera3 UI5 following the forum members support documentation, not Micasaverde whatever they are.

I added the GE45601 remote to Vera, no problem. I did no modifications to the device in Vera UI5.

Meanwhile, when following PurdueGuy’s instructions for enabling a GE45601 button to cut a light on and off, the remote never reads “Success” after “setup waiting”.

I am trying to use the remote with a GE Lamp Module Model 2W3101 and I have the lamp plugged into the Zwave receptacle side of the device. The device is recognized in Vera and I can cut it on and off and set dim levels in Vera and with an app on my Iphone. Just no luck with the GE45601 remote. >:(

I have tried disabling the Iphone when trying to do this. The remote reads “Empty” when I try to turn the light on or off, so the failed button assignment seems true.

The documentation of the GE45601 is not clear on setting it for Primary or Secondary controller, but I followed PurdueGuy’s instructions using Receive and got a Success and the remote shows up in Vera, complete with the little icon as, _GE Advanced Remote.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Rick

Did the remote show ‘SUCCESS’ (as per @PurdueGuy’s instructions) when you attempted to assign the light to the button?

No it did not ever show success when I attempted to assign the light to the button. I pressed the button on the light module numerous times, sometimes holding it down for several seconds and sometimes just a quick press. Eventually things timed out and the GE remote read “Fail”.

Just tried it and it appears to (still) work. Could you try re-including the remote, i.e. basically repeating @PurdueGuy’s instructions?

I bought 2 Evolve LPM-15, and tried to program them to a key. So far, no such luck. :frowning:

Just tried an LPM-15 + 45601 + Vera Lite @ 1.5.408/3.20: works.

Did you do the rapid double click to assign it to a key?

I guess I didn’t click fast enough yesterday, I guess I did two presses with too much time in between.

Tonight I tried it really fast, and it worked.

What’s this talk of “rapid double click”?! :o

So doing this on the 45601 should lead to a “Success” message when assigning to a Key? Is this an undocumented method? If that is the case, I will try later today and report back.

Rick

You need to do a double click, rapidly, for the LPM15 to send out a signal that the remote will pick up to assign the device to a key. (On other devices it’s often a single click; yet on others it’s a triple click. Depends on the device.)

So doing this on the 45601 should lead to a "Success" message when assigning to a Key?
Yep.
Is this an undocumented method?
Nope. It's per the manuals of the LPM-15 and 45601.

I will try it with my GE 45601 remote and GE Lamp Module Model 2W3101. Thanks very much for the advice!

Rick

Hard to believe I missed it in the 45601 manual. Still can’t find it. If you have the time, please zero me in. I may have been consulting the wrong area of the manual and be more lost than I thought.

Thanks again.

The LPM-15 states to do the double-click for “standard inclusion.” That is specific to that device.
GE switches should be a single click, I believe.

Thanks for posting this! After spinning wheels trying to get the GE45600 working, I picked up a GE 45601 at Fry’s. They price-matched Amazon

The 45601 was very easy to set up. The directions to add it to the Vera worked, then adding the GE & Leviton dimmers and switches worked as normal from the remote. There’s no lag when using the 45601 as a dimmer control, which is a big plus for my home theatre where I often readjust the lights depending on time of day.

A few more attempts using a single click, allowed me to assign the GE lamp module to a button on the remote. Seems no matter how many clicks, a few attempts may be needed. Now that the buttons have been assigned all works great. Thanks to the folks that helped me with this, to include oTi@, with an email to me that was also very helpful.

Rick

After clicking the “wrench” of the GE Advanced Remote and
in the Scene Tab you can set the scenes for the buttons 1 to 9 when they turn on BUT
you can not scroll down to the Activate the Scenes for buttons 1 thru 9 when they are off. The scroll bar will not let you go down.

Patrick,
please what model of leviton dimmers and switch you have tested with vera3 ?

I like this brand but I had a problem in setting up a 2 loads scene controller that make me afraid of the brand.

thanks
