Help to configure SP814 everspring motion detector

Hi,

I’m running into a classic “Z-wave really isn’t ready for masses” issue

I have a new Everspring SP814 motion detector (EU version). Successfully added to Vera, and grouped with a light module.
It works perfectly…only I would like the default delay of 15 seconds to be a bit longer before shutdown.

Looking at the manual, I see “On-Off duration” is parameter 6, between 5 and 3600 seconds. Seems easy.
I go to Vera configuration settings…but no way to get Vera to update the value (I always get an error after the refresh of the device).
I have of course tried every available data format available, from “default” to 4 bit dec. No way.
I have tried to input an Hexadecimal value (“3c”), but no luck either.
Vera does display correctly the current value, “15”.

Does anybody have some experience with this module, or maybe with Everspring custom variables setting?

Thanks!

@Pierre.bin

What error did you get?

What Vera firmware are you on? 1.1.1245?

What Z-Wave version are you on? 2.78? or 3.20

Did you try a “heal with stresstest” ??

Hi,

I am on 1.1.1245 , i don’t know how to check the Z-wave version.
The error message is “Failed at: setting user configuration” whenever I use any other setting format than “default” (the manual states “size: 1 under 127seconds”, but I have tried all settings in Vera). When I select default, I get no error message during the error message…but the parameter value doesn’t change.

BTW I have a vera 2.

Just found: I am on 2.78 Z-wave version

You can find the Z-Wave version in the advanced tab. If you didnt change anythng you’re probably on 2.78.

Does your Vera have connection to the device (can you switch/trip it from the UI) and did you try a heal with stresstest?

Sorry our message crossed, I am on 2.78.

I have total access to the device from Vera. The detector works perfectly also with my lamp, only I cannot change the 15 seconds On/off delay in the z-wave settings.
I cannot change any other z-wave parameter by the way.

I tried healing but it didn’t change anything. There seems to be a problem the way Vera tried to upload the parameter to the detector…

Ok if the device is functional for the rest, its something else.
I dont have the device myself, so couldnt give you any info on the settings to use.

Probably someone else on the forum does and can help more.

At least basic troubleshooting and generic info is done now.

Thanks for checking that, both newbies and geeks tend indeed to respectively forget/jump the basics.

Someone else then :stuck_out_tongue:

@Pierre.bln,
I don’t have this particular device, but in general, with battery operated devices (looks like the SP814 is too), you’d have to manually wake up the device by pressing a button (or something of that nature) before Vera will be able to talk to it and send the new configuration.

Hi, I know that actually  I can update the associations as many times as I want, successfully.
It’s really just the Z-wave extra parameters that I can’t setup, which is why only the last step of the resync, “user configuration”, causes an error.

So none of the parameters, say #3, Sensitivity Level?

Nope, I have tried param 3, 4 and 6; in all data format combinations possible (even if, logically according to the manual, I was going for 1 byte dec first).
What’s annoying is that I can perfectly see the default values when selecting “monitor only”…

So read-only huh. That is annoying. I’d contact MCV at this point.

I have opened a ticket, I can’t help to think I have missed a point, but I have methodically tried everything I could think off.
I have now tried with a second (identical) detector, brand new (just added to Vera, no association): same issue.

hi

did you manage to fix that issue?

i have the same problem

also, this device has a “Lux level” to trigger the sensor. parameter 5

this also doesn’t show in vera anywhere, not sure if it can be set.

I have this SP814. Motion sensor is ok, but i don’t have any device about lux level as i have for EZMotion per example. Can we have the lux level on the dashboard ??

Hi,

I second that…

-cokeman

I third that

I just configured two SP814s and was missing the light level information. It seems that it is not supported in the Vera.

I fourth that …
The SP814 is a nice device, and i want to drive the inbuild sirene, but can not get it to work, as I do not see the parameters.
Hopefully this can be solved soon
