I have a window blind (Duwi - DUW_064367) which is controlled by VERA (UI5) to let my windowblinds go up and down.
The blinds are placed outside in front of a door which opens to the outside. When the blinds are up (open) and the door is open, I dont want the blinds to be able to go down or close. This will damage both my door and blinds.
So my thoughts were simple. Place a zwave door sensor (EVR_SM103) which detects the door is open(ed) an the disables (or fully opens) the blinds. The blinds must be disabled as well as access via zwave and directly on the blinds switch. I don’t want to accidently press the button down of the blinds when the door is opened.
Thus somthing like these:
IF DOOR IS OPEN THEN DISABLE WINDOWBLIND
IF DOOR IS OPEN THEN BRING WINDOWBLIND 100% OPEN
IF DOOR IS OPENEN THEN BRING WINDOWBLIND 100% OPEN (eg. the blind were open for 95% and the door just went open un it).
Does anyone have a clean and neat solution that stays simple and helps me with this simple need?
The easiest way I can think of to disable the window blind if the door is opened is to put an appliance module between the power to the blind and the blind controller. A simple scene could turn off the appliance module when the door is opened, thus disabling the shade.
As far as opening the shade when the door is opened, a simple scene could do that too. You could combine both in the same scene to have it when the door is opened, send shade up, and once it is up (you could have a time delay equal to the travel time of the shade or use Luup code to determine if shade has reached up position) then turn off the appliance module to disable it.
If you had a switch controlling your window blind, and you had a door sensor trigger a scene to turn off an appliance module connected inline between the Zwave motor or Zwave motor controller, your switch would still stay powered on and in the network, but it couldn’t control anything since the power has been cut off to the shade. When the door closes and the door sensor triggers a scene to turn the appliance module back on, then your shade should go back to being operational from the switch again.
The AC1-ZW Zwave motor controller has a sensor input that could be made to do something like this too, but it would require a firmware adjustment. Right now I think the sensor input is setup for a temp sensor, although it isn’t supported in Vera yet. So the appliance module method should be your best bet and will insure the motor will reman disabled as long as the door is open.
