I have few of these motion detectors. Sometimes after they detect motion, it does not go back to the non-trigger state when there is no motion. This does not happen often. It takes sometime to go back to the non-trigger state. I think when the motion is detected, it triggers and inform Vera. It does not update the Vera when it stops detecting the motion. After its regular wake up time of 60 minutes, it updates Vera that no motion is detected.
I have had one of these for a few months and have not had that problem. However, I do find that this thing chows batteries like nobody’s business. Did you try new batteries?
I also have an Intermatic CA9000 motion sensor. IMNSHO, it is far superior to the Hawking device. Unlike the Hawking, it sips the battery, includes an external power jack, has a front-mounted bypass button, and comes with a swivel bracket for aiming the device. And it costs less.
Thanks!! After I replaced the battery, I did not see the issue. I think when it ran out of juice in the battery, it was able to update Vera about trigger and the juice fully runs out, so that it does not update that non-trigger mode.
These motion sensors suck the power like anything. I will definitely try the one you suggested.
The reason the hrmd1 sucks so much battery is because it transmits a signal every time it sees motion.
If you set the adjustment screw on the sensor to wait say 5 minutes before it sends an off command it will still transmit on commands all thru the 5 min waiting period when it sees motion.
I cant find a parameter that will change this behavior.
Yes, it’s ridiculous. My HRMD1 is now on its second set of batteries, while my Intermatic is still showing 70% on its first set, and they were both installed at the same time. And the ironic part is that the Intermatic has a jack to power it from a wall wart, while the HRMD1 does not.
