Having problems with UI w/ not saving settings, labeling devices, losing devices

Please help out MCV and others also instead of calling tech support.

I’m an electrical contractor with lots of Z-Wave experience with Levition line of Vizia RF. Now I have the Vera2, and these are my problems and yes I tried to search, but couldn’t find what I needed:

1 -UI when labeling devices the names barely ever stay? I have tired and tried and nothing, but then it’ll work. I have tried all the common things like saving, refreshing, and etc… What the MCV process to label a Levition Viza RF?

2 - UI when making a scene and entering a command, but then un-checking the box it still keeps it checked for the most part. I have tried saving, refreshing, and pretty much everything else

3 - Trying to get this to work with my Logitech Harmony 890 and what I found this that is remote will not act as a second controller. Does this mean I can’t use it at all for Z-wave devices paired with Vera2?

4 - 3 Devices out of 20 are lost and circled in red? Where did they go?

5 - If the house lost power, but Vera2 is on a UPS will the scenes run if the time for them to start was when the power was out when the power came on for the remainder of that scenes time?

I experienced all of the same problems that you’re having with UI3. IMHO, that interface is simply too buggy and unstable to be usable right now. That’s one of the reasons I switched back to UI2, which not only has fewer bugs, but is generally easier to use all around. You can download the current version of UI2 here.

To answer question 5, no… Homeworks dimmer link power comes from the processor…

A similar example would be an external system on UPS power controlling a homeworks system on utility power. For example, if you have a control4 system interfacing to the Homeworks system via rs232 or IP, and the control 4 system is on UPS but the Homeworks processor is not… if you turn on a light through control 4 while the power is off, the light will not come on when power is restored…

It’s good to see another electrical contractor on here… not an electrician here, just a dumb project manager…

#3 logitech sucks and the 890 wont play nicely with any other z-wave controllers. You can get an 890pro - there’s a few threads and wiki post(s) here from a SMALL handfull folks who have gotten that to work as a primary or secondary controller with the vera or other systems.

You MIGHT want to “cross grade” to UI2- it’s older and perhaps more stable- but more importantly people in the forum are more familier with it so the forum and wiki are more specific to that.

I have 890 Pro and now I’m trying out the UI2 to see if that works. I can’t find any info about that controller can you please post on links?

Yeah I have been reading through these post and it seems most home owners. I really like this device if it works because I have been doing small Z-wave system for a couple of years, only keeping it local and simple, but priced right for a lot more of the general homeowner. I’m trying to find someone that could write code for plugins that we might need. Do you know of anyone?

here’s the wiki page

search the forum for some other tidbits- but I think the wiki page sums it up (not sure though- I only have the 890 so I haven’t bothered to try)

I’m a electrical contractor as well installing Leviton ZWave. At this point, I see way too many problems to make this profitable, so for now I’m sticking with Think Essentials. If you have scene and zone controllers, I found it much easier to setup in Think Essentials and then transfering master to Vera. But you have to disable updates to the Scene/Zone controllers so they don’t lose the settings. Otherwise Vera will erase the settings to these devices. Maybe UI4 will be a different story, we hope.

I hear you there WAY too many problems to sell this to someone. They would be scream all the time and it would be endless service calls. I would rather install Lutron HomeWorks or anything in the bracket. Sure it’s going to be a lot more, but it works 100% of the time. It’s a great idea Z-Wave and all, but it’s been on the market for quite some time and doesn’'t look like it’ll ever make it as a real player.
