Every night after the heal my Leviton VRP03 plug in dimmer becomes unresponsive to all commands. Dashboard shows it as 100% on when in fact it is off and uncontrollable. Another weird thing is the dimmer green LED is off even though the dimmer is off. Normally green LED is illuminated when off. Unplugging dimmer and plugging back in resets the dimmer and it becomes controllable, dashboard sees correct on/off/dim level and green LED functions appropriately. What is the heal doing to the switch every night and can it be fixed?
It sounds like the heal is configuring the dimmer and the dimmer is locking up during that configuration process. Unplugging and replugging is basically rebooting the dimmer.
Exactly why this is happening is hard to say. It may be that the dimmer cannot understand the configuration, or it may be that the dimmer is losing communication and is not receiving a complete configuration.
As a test, I would try moving the dimmer to within 3 feet of Vera and letting it heal. If it still locks up, then you may need to prevent furture configuration attempts, after returning it to its home and healing it, by changing the “Automatically configure” option on the settings tab to “No”.
If it does not lock up when testing close to Vera, it suggests a communication problem in its original location. To resolve that, you’d add intermediate nodes.
Tried moving Vera Edge right next to dimmer for a couple of days. No change. Is this a known issue with the Leviton plug in dimmer?
It sounds like the dimmer is bad.
No, it’s not a common issue with these modules.
Tried two different VRP03’s. It does the same to both of them.
What version of the firmware are you on, on your Vera Edge? the most recent has lots of issues like that.
It is the most up to date version.
You should call support and ask them to down grade you to 1.7.1248 that is likely your problem. Folks have been having all sorts of problems with devices staying properly joined to the z-wave netowork on firmware 1.7.1320
See thread http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,33201.0.html
I put in a ticket to support. I will report what they do to fix the problem. Thanks.
I concur. The 1320 update uses a completely redesigned z-wave driver. I’ve talked to support on the phone, and they assure me, they’ve had no negative reports about the change (per Johnathan). Sure.
My Leviton VRF01 fan controllers no longer show instant status updates - something the did just fine with the Vera Lite. Hopefully the next update will return the compatibility back to where it was.
