My Vera lite all of a sudden stopped responding to anything. No response via Homewave or the web UI (local). I looked at it, all 3 lights lit, the blue, the orange and the green. So i thought maybe it wants a reboot, so unpligged the power for a minute, the plugged it back in. The blue light starts flashing, and after a little while the green light flashes a couple of times, then both lights go off, then all 4 lights flash once, and it starts again with the blue light flashing. No idea whats happening. Slight panic here though as it controls everything, and i cannot control anything now… no hot water, heating , etc… and that the day before xmas.
Has anybody got an idea of what it could be or what i could do ?
Can you verify that the network cable is working and can connect to the internet?
- Garrett
Network cable is fine, my internet too. I have not touched my Vera today, and it all was working fine. I tried to run a scene when i noticed something was funny as it did not run. Thats when i started looking why.
I also tried starting it on batteries with all cables disconnected. The bue light starts flashing, but instead of the orange light then coming on flashing to show its in inclusion mode it just goes off. When i press the power button again the same happens. I am not sure if i should try a factory reset. I think there is a button on the box to reset it
I have tried pressing the reset button on my Vera lite. It does one of 2 things, either the orange light flashes fast, no other light is lit, and it stays that way, it does not go off, or the blue light starts flashing really fast, again, it stays that way. After a few minutes i got fed up with it, and unplugged the power. Back to the endless reboot ? cycle. I think i have a hardware problem.
After xmas i will have a think about getting a backup vera. Just in case this happens again, i could use my mios backups (or one stored on my pc) to set up another vera to take over if i have a hardware failure ?
I had something similar happen too with my veralite for no apparent reason. MCV came in and blamed one of my plugin (I was not convinced, I blame that I had too many devices and my vera was choking… running out of memory)
Anyway the first times I did a flash firmware (from my PC) and restored a backup from a few days old… everything seemed back to normal for a while.
When it happened again a few weeks later, I was told by MCV not to do a firmware flash but just a factory reset. While I did that, I noticed that my problem was only happening when I would plug the Internet back on and it was trying to reload certain plugins… So go figure ![]()
Since then I decided to Not restore from a backup But rather rebuild my network manually… all is good so far. I also ordered a Vera3.
Good luck
Claude
How do you do a firmware flash ? Reset does not seem to work, everything is down, so might as well try that ?

May I ask how you’re unable to control your heat and hot water? Maybe somebody can at least help you get those running.
@joey52685
Thanks, i found a manual override on the heating controller, so i can now at least turn the heating/hot water on manualy. Not ideal, but better than nothing. Heating is not thermostat controlled in this case, so i have to turn it of manually when its warm enough.

I have got Vera flashing, ready to be re flashed. But when i open the vera recovery tool, it does not find any network adapter. Anything after that obviously fails. I have set the lan adapter to
Computer IP: 192.168.0.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
as per instructions. If i could get the recovery tool to find my network adapter i would have a chance. But i dont know why it cannot see it.
I’m not in front of my PC but if I recall, You’re supposed to plug in your vera straight into your PC… and the recovery tool is supposed to detect your vera unit (not your network adapter)
Yes i tried that. Going through the forum here other people had the same problem. Vera plugged straight into the PC, with network settings as above (from the instructions) but first thing when you start up the recovery tool its asking to select a network adapter from the list. My list is blank. I click ok, and then i can do everything until selecting firmware, but units list is blank, and the upgrade button is greyed out. I am sure thats because it is not dtecting a network adapter, therefore probably cannot see my Vera. Not sure what to do from here. I am stuck. I tried lots of things, i also had the recovery program running in XP SP3 compatibility, installed TFTP, i think i did everything as per instructions. I am lost.
Appreciate all your help, especially on xmas day !
I just started having the same problem as you. Received on Christmas. Set it up and all was working well. Suddenly, today. It just stopped responding to button presses. If I heal the zwave network, it works for a couple hours and then back to reloading cycle over and over. Is this problem rampant? Any ideas?
I did some more searching and thanks to others experiencing the same problem, I’ve pinned the problem to the Ergy plugin. Uninstalled the plugin and now things are working smoothly again.
@nottings - Had you configured or played with the Ergy plugin, or was it completely untouched and causing an issue? From the dearth of similar complaints I am going to guess the former and not the latter.
No modifications other than filling in the wattage information for each light device.

Having the same exact issue with blinking blue power LED and blank network adapter list. What was the solution?
edit: have already followed all firmware flash instructions to no avail, on phone with support now.
I never got mine to work again, i returned it and upgraded to a Vera 3…
Ouch. Tech support is being awful. 3 representatives couldn’t come to a conclusion. The device is only a few months old.
I’ll try emailing. Thanks for the reply!
