Has anyone successfully used a USB->multi-port serial converter?

I have 3 devices I want to connect via serial:

  • Lighting controller (LiteTouch)
  • 12 channel audio mixer
  • Elk alarm system

Instead of having a USB hub and a spiderweb of wires, this would be a lot more convenient. Also, if I had a bunch of single port dongles that were the same brand/model, how would I guarantee each one was always assigned to the same /dev/ttyUSBX device after a reboot?

The wiki page has one listed that works:

Might be better off using one of these though since you don’t need to worry about things getting mixed up after a reboot:

Has anyone successfully used a USB to serial mini converter from B&B Electronics with Vera?
