HA09 Intermatic Remote

Does anyone know if I can execute scenes with this 6 channel transmitter/receiver through the Vera3? I have been able to do this on my Android tablet with Home Buddy, but I’m not sure how to map 1 of the 12 buttons on the HA09 to a particular scene. The scene controller device shows up on UI5 and I have been able to bind it to the network. Any help would be appreciated. I’m only in my 3rd week of owning Zwave devices and Vera3, so the simpler explaination the better for me please.

I do not have a Vera 3, but it certainly works on Vera 1.

On my Vera 1 (which I am using older software on as well), you have to first add the controller to Vera. Then you should see the controller available for scene events. After assigning the scene events to the HA09’s buttons (or better stated assigning the HA09’s buttons to scene events), you then have to “add” the controller a second time in order for Vera to reprogram the HA09 controller.

Some issues with the HA09: Vera cannot recognize which “off” button was pushed, so all of the off buttons envoke button “0”. However, when Vera can program the HA09 to directly control a device, the off button for that device will work (this problem is only for devices that the HA09 cannot directly control, and that Vera needs to do the controlling). I also found that Vera cannot recognize buttons 10-12 when pushed (but could program those buttons properly). I just make sure that I only assign devices that can be controlled by the HA09 itself onto those buttons.

The Vera Wiki has information on how to handle the HA09 controller, but that documentation was written for earlier Vera’s and software releases. However, it should be of some help.

Thanks, but I really am still confused. I have no experience in software programming and seem to be really lost. I have bound the HA09 to the network and have assigned it to the Master Bedroom. All that shows up is the name scene controller and an “internal tooth cog icon” to the left. I can move to the right across the title bar and the push pin and edit wrench appear. When I click on the wrench, it see the tabs control, settings, advanced, device options and scenes. Moving to the scenes tab gives me a message of “activate the following scenes when the buttons are turned on” I would think this is where I would add them, but I really don’t know how or if this is just a report area. Sorry to be so lost. I really wish there was a class, users manual or something available for the complete novice. If you know of anything, please let me know.

@Stanman,

What you are seeing is normal. And that scenes tab is a bit confusing; ignore it.

You’d want to create a scene by going to the [tt]Automation[/tt] tab in the dashboard, and selecting [tt]New scene[/tt].

  • Pick the devices you want to control (on the [tt]Devices[/tt] tab that is already selected).
  • Go to the [tt]Triggers[/tt] tab, hit [tt]Add trigger[/tt] and select your HA09; choose [tt]A scene is activated[/tt] as the trigger; give it a name and put the button number (on the HA09) that you want to trigger this scene with in the [tt]Which scene number[/tt] field.
  • [tt]Confirm changes[/tt] and [tt]Save[/tt].

I believe you should now be able to trigger the scene by pushing the button on the HA09. But as @aa6vh explained, you can re-include the remote to Vera, so the scene is transferred to the remote. This should make the Off part work.

Also, have a look at the docs.

0Ti@,

Thank you very much! It worked like a champ! I have tried the docs many times, but they seem to either leave something out or I miss it. It also looks like to me that many of the directions apply to UI4 (migrated) but not UI5.

I have 2 more quick questions that maybe someone can help me with. With scenes, schedules, etc. does a “report generator” exist anywhere? I know that the scene I have now assigned to button 1 sends an on signal, 1sec. delay and an off signal, and I sure would like to see this “in print” All that is readily available is a scene exists but not what it does. The same holds true with schedules. I added 2 additional schedules to my landscape lights (based on travel and weekday/weekend) but I don’t even know if my delays were entered correctly nor if I actually sent an off command after the delay. Reviewing the sequence of events “on paper” would certainly be helpful.
My second question is can I assign multiple scenes to one button? I’m guessing so, but I just want to make sure.

Thanks again!

Thanks all for the instructions. I was getting so frustrated tyring to follow the manufacturers instructions and the Wiki. Made no sense. Even had to do a full Vera reset to clear out all of the mess I created. Your instructions above worked well. Sortof silly to have to “reinstall” the remote to get the off button to work, but nonetheless, that’s the answer.

@tjpoc,

Welcome!

Yep, maybe not that intuitive; apparently the scene information can only be transferred to the remote at inclusion time. Also, in general, you’d have to re-include your remotes to get the latest network information to them (so they’ll know about devices you included after a remote itself was included).

Any ideas why I can get my HA07 to work with the off buttons but I am not able to get my HA09 to work. The HA07 is triggering 3 scenes that operate 2 lights at 100%, 50% and 10%. Each of the off buttons 1, 2 and 3 turn both lights off.

I programmed 3 scenes for a different light for the HA09. All 3 scenes trigger correctly but I cannot get any of the off buttons to work. I’m tried reincluding the remote a couple of times but it’s not working.

Edit - It occurred to me that I could be too far away from the light to operate it directly so I walked upstairs and the off buttons work perfectly.
