Great App!!!

Have been using this app on both my iPhone and iPad the past 4-6 weeks on my Vera Lite. Very happy with it compared to what I was using before.

Things I like:

  1. Designing my own screen layout for a personalized look and feel. Other apps are inflexible.
  2. Ability to rename devices from the embedded name in Vera to be more descriptive.
  3. The connection state icon in top right corner. Nice to know if you are properly connected to Vera.
  4. I like the flexibility for different icon types fopr light switches. Sliders, push buttons and so forth. Can really spice up the UI.
  5. Integrated Alarm functionality. Makes for a much cleaner Alarm Panel interface than what I had before.
  6. Doesn’t crash. At least not yet. The app I was using before crashed every second or third activation from sleep state.

Things I’d like to see changed:

  1. Even more switch icons. For a simple on off switch how about a 3D icon of an old fashioned toggle switch and flips up for on, flips down for off. How about a flip sound to go with it.
  2. More configure options for the Alarm. I only use the Arm and Disarm commands on my alarm. I’d like the Force and Stay options to be hidden.
  3. The status bar is a little too narrow for my fat fingers. Would be nice if this could be widened up a bit, say 1.5 to 2x the height of today.
  4. Ability to make larger page navigation ( < and > from status bar) icons and put then into the body of the app as active icons to any size you’d like to scale them too. I would put them in the lower right and left portion of certain screens.
  5. Camera options as in web access to Vera. I have a couple cameras with a local light. When using the web Micasaverde web access to my Vera when I view that camera I have it automatically turn on the light. When I leave the viewing the light shuts off. This functionality doesn’t work in this client.
  6. Maybe a fun splash screen when you launch app where you can put a JPEG depicting what you are controlling. Maybe a photo merged with some text.
  7. Add support for Honeywell RTH8580WF thermostat so I can control that from same app as I control Vera.

Anyway I am quite happy with this app and recommend it highly for iOS users.

Thanks for the detailed feedback

  1. This is difficult; icons are expensive and the free ones usually can’t be included in a commercial app. But you can add your own, using iTunes to add them to your phone’s photo album, or from your Dropbox account.

  2. I’ll see if I can add it in the next version

  3. I’d like to avoid that. In any case, the status bar is not suposed to be used very much (see point 4 as well)

  4. Planned!

  5. I’m not sure if Vera’s API supports this, but I’ll check.

  6. Can be added but it’ll be way down on the todo-list.

  7. Is there a Vera plugin for this thermostat?

Not that I know of. Its a WiFi device, not ZWAVE and it interoperates with a Honeywell site
( https://rs.alarmnet.com/totalconnectcomfort )

It would be nice if this client could interface with Honeywell device via their web page.
