graph of temperature values?

Is there a way to get a graph of temperature (or other values) out of my Vera and HSM100?

I also have an IOBridge device and getting graphs of data out of it seems to work. Is there any way to do this on a Vera?

Here’s my basement temp from the ioBridge sensor:

And my blog post about the ioBridge that mentions the Vera…

It seems like there should be some way to do this with all the fancy tech inside a Vera. I suppose this would take a more sophisticated web back end, like the one provided by ioBridge.

As an alternative, I suppose one could create a lua plugin that would post temp values to a site like pachube.

I was thinking that I could setup a timer based event, say every 10 minutes, then push the data somewhere.

Maybe I should look into the luup side of things.

Any suggestions?

You can try posting it to some URL, for example:

temp = luup.variable_get(“urn:upnp-org:serviceId:TemperatureSensor1”,“CurrentTemperature”, DevNum)
luup.inet.wget(“http://your.collecting.server/post-temp?temp=” + temp)

A way to graph temps would be a great plugin for one of our local geniuses to invent for those of us less programming inclined, I would think that many people would be interested in having a record of same

Hi,

This kind of plugin shouldn’t be difficult to do, you must store those infos in a file, then generate an image and display it on the dashboard, the Vera box doesn’t have a package for generating images/graphs from data files for the moment, we removed it (since I recall). But it’s very easy to install that package back.

What is the easiest way to display an image on the dashboard?

The only way I can think of is to use gnuplot, store the image in Vera’s file system and use Vera’s camera plugin to display the image.

Storing the data in a RRD (round robin database) and using rrd tool to graph the output would the most compact. Both are supported my openwrt. I was looking at RRD integration with Vera for energy usage plotting.

One of the teased features of the next firmware is more control over customizing the UI, so you may want to wait to see what comes of that before doing too much work on your solution.

Eddie,

Did you ever get this going?

I’m looking to do what the original poster was trying to do. Is anyone recording and logging currentTemperature to a file?

I would be grateful if someone could give me the LUUP code for Getting the CurrentTemperature every or and write it to a file on Vera, or smb share etc.

Once I have the values, I can throw them into excel or something. I just have no idea what the LUUP code would be.

It doesn’t appear that a scene wizard has the capability of doing this without adding LUUP code.

Thanks
