Good Australian NZ suppliers for locks?

Hi I’m trying to find a good Australian supplier for locks etc… it’s a bit of a shame they change the frequencies in different countries! doesn’t allow for things to be very competitive price wise!

921.42

I see zwave.com.au finally has the Z-Wave Schlage LiNK LE162 Keypad Lock in stock at $349

I’d love to know how hard it would be to convert the frequencies for use in Australia of some overseas devices… their prices are just so much more competitive. or find an overseas supplier that these guys are importing from.

anyone tried the schage link le162 with a Vera 2 yet?

Hard. The zwave module part of the device contains the firmware for the device as well. You can’t therefore swap the zwave module over.

What you can do is use a foreign controller and parts, but you would be in contravention of local laws about radio frequency interference.

Just picked up a schlage le162 from Masters.Paired with my vera2 fine(after tech support fixed a problem with my unit which would fail to go into learn mode)…a few issues tho:
1.Vera ui does not show the correct status of the lock…always shows UNLOCKED
2. Cannot lock from vera2…shows that the command was transmitted ok but the le162 does not lock unless I use the hardware lock button.
3. If i unlock from Vera the le162 stays unlocked and does not lock until I press the hardware lock button(as oppossed to relocking after a 5sec timeout as using the keypad does)
I have opened a support ticket for these issues and will report back the resolution.

@baxy_AU,

Did you buy the kit or just the lock and what was Masters’ price?

Just the lock for 349

Returning the lock today tried excluding/including five times…twice before contacting micasa tech support and three times as requested, but always the same result.their final response was that the lock should be returned/replaced.
If anyone has had better luck please let me know as i would like to have this working.

Any updates on this one? Purchased the same lock knowing about the issues and got the same results. The device is paired and it can set pin’s but the status is never updated.
Its still a great device but would be even better if it reported its status correctly and could be used for triggering scenes.

I have returned two of them now after tech support could not sort the issues out before the return window. I have also reported the issue on the mantis bug tracking system but nothing has come of that either. Bit of a pain as its the only lock available in Australia as far as I know.

Can anyone further comment on this. I want to buy one but not if all these issues exist. I have a Vera lite

thx in advance

To update I am now trying one of these Z-Wave Home Automation Australia | Best Smart Home Devices!
The only issue I’m having with it is I can’t seem to be able to trigger events when a specific PIN is entered

Baxy_AU, im australia too, in melbourne. I was really looking forward to getting the schlage le162. they look really good. but info on their use in oz is hard to come by. smarthome.com.au reckon they havent heard any issues with vera.

Did you get a chance to try the LE162 witht the beta firmware mentioning schlage locks support for australia? Maybe its all good now

I liked the idea of the pin pad being hidden, was easier to convince the wife

how long have you had that new lock you linked? and whos the manufacturer of it

It seems to be from Vision Security.

So the LE162 definitely doesn’t work?

It may work with the newer betas…the changelog suggests support has been improved.

I’m am still waiting for a fix for the issue with the lock from zwave.com.au

any update on LE162 with new public beta? ive been holding out to buy one until newer firmware was released. if it does all its supposed to properly, i’ll get one

Just a bump, any update on le162 in aus after 622 firmware?

I have confirmation from aeon labs their dual smart switches support beaming which was the last thing holding me back from this lock.

just want to know how the lock performs from a fellow aussie before i put down $350

cheers

Letting fellow aussies know that the LE162 Schlage lock now works with updated firmware from supplier.

Smartliving.com.au have been in contact with manufacturer, sorted the issues with Vera, and all is working now.

I currently have it installed, fully functional with vera 622 firmware.

For those interested, heres the thread discussing all of it:
