I need some assistance
Over the weekend, I replaced an Leviton VPI06-1LW Vizia Incandescent dimmer and matching 3-way that was controlling a chandelier with 18x 60W candelabra bulbs.
I replaced the switch and matching 3 way with Leviton VRMX1-1LZ and Leviton VP00R-1LZthem and installed 18x LED 6W Filament bulbs (Amazon.com ) which look outstanding. Both boxes already had neutral wires, the dimming and LED indicators on each switch are working as before, the light work perfectly and bulbs dim very nicely. But when I turn off the light they ghost (faintly light), even if I pull the air gap. I have tried removing both switches and installing a single pole switch, with this they turn out perfectly.
When you pull the airgap, it is supposed to disconnect all current flow. So, if the lights remain on, after pulling the airgap there are only two possibilities.
Agreed, that is what I thought as well. However…
I spoke with Leviton today and they suggested that VRMX1 may not be compatible with my LED Filament bulbs, which could manifest this problem. They think I need a forward-phase device (Reverse-phase) dimmer for this bulb. I am going to try the more expensive (of course) VRE06-1LZ.
I have to be honest, I knew I needed a neutral and LED capable dimmer, but I did not realize that I needed a specific type of dimmer. It was never this tricky with incandescent lights!
