Geofence Question

Hello Guys,

If i didnt post this in the correct forum please let me know but i have a question regarding geofencing.

What i would like to achieve is this, when i return home and enter a geofence the home opens the gate etc. But my real question is if it can be set to do different things for different times of the day. ie if i return home during the night the outside lights would come on and not during the day.

Can anyone help?

I have experimented with something similar, I started simple and just used tasker to trigger scenes. So in your instance I would create a scene that opens the gates and then set up tasker (if yout are using android) and then trigger it when you enter the geofence area, this trigger can be ased on time of day etc.

I run tasker to turn on lights when coming home, this only happens between certain times (based on sunset and sunrise in tasker) and the fires a simple scene that turns on the lights outside. Perhaps not the most elegant way but it works and is simple. I often find that keeping it simple is a good idea!.

Tasker runs a number of triggers to Vera for me by firing shortcuts based on certain conditions, some really useful ones turn off lights at night when I plug my phone into charge (and turns on sonos for an hour), as well as turning off phone charger when I unplug the power etc. I’ve found it really adds an extra dimension to automation. The only thing I would say is that it’s not 100%, but if you can live with it working 98% of the time then give it a go.
