Geo Fencing

Hi,

Are you annoyed by new update to Vera app? it checks for Geo fencing (if it is enabled or not) and lets you know it is not enabled everytime you launch it.

Before update they had annoying welcome message and alerts that never go away and now this.

I think it is their attempt for people to buy Vera Edge (new controller) I am assuming geo fencing will only work with new controller.

Has anyone tried it with Vera Lite??

Hi,

I?m using Vera Edge and I can?t get it work either. No change in the Mode, no notification and when you log in on the Vera app on the phone, it won?t stop saying “thank you for your patience” and nothing happens.

Somebody who can tell what I?m doing wrong…?

Steffo

I’m tired of this as well. I don’t plan to turn on location services for my phone, and can’t find a way to disable it permanently for the app. I contacted tech support, but it’s not really a bug, it’s just an irritation for the user. I’ve found there is very little to like about the UI7 app.

Geofence works on all controllers not just the edge. I don’t use it and I don’t have an Annoying welcome message. Also there is alot better phone apps then the stock vera app.

Out of curiosity, I have the latest vera lite firmware 1.7.513, the latest Vera app, and I have never seen any geofencing references anywhere. Am I missing something?

Also, much agreed…Imperihome is my default go to app. AutohomationHD is good but development is on hold now.

I did put in a support ticket about my 7 scenes being viewable in the mobile vera app but not on the web gui. They kept asking about geofencing and I kept telling them I have never seen nor used this option.

I now have 5 visible scenes on the web ui and 2 more to go with whatever Vera support is doing with them.

Geofencing has everything to do with your phone and phone app not so much the VERA. Your gefence is setup on your phone. Which is why its not an EDGE only thing.

In the ANDRIOD APP you hit:
On the DashBoard right below the film strip at the top click “My Modes” In there is where you setup what to do in each mode and down at the bottom of the page is where you setup your geo fence location and such.

I think people look for it in the UI and not the Phone APP.

LOL - I feel like a dumba$$. I never even saw the arrow by my modes. I don’t actually use my modes anyways. HAHA…ok, I’ll work it out from there.

Personally I have been and was using Vera Proximity before going to ui7. I Don’t like the factory app anyways, no custom fan icons for my switches that are not lights and alot of other reasons.

So I have tested the factory geofence and it has alot of limitations. Like only one user for one. Me and the Wife have geofence and I base alot of my home automation on it. From locking doors and turning off lights, to when we get notifcations and what type of notifications we recieve. No not running our Roomba until we leave, open sprinkler. So anyways The factory Geofence might work for some but there is alot better options. I wouldn’t get to hung up on if it doesn’t work to your liking.
