GE/Jasco ZW4001 Won't Include

I bought a GE 45614 kit with both the ZW4001 3 way switch and the companion aux switch. Hooked it up to a VeraLite and was able to include it right away no problem. Decided I wanted the 3 way in Almond to match the other switches, so I ordered a Jasco 45609LAB (switch only). Came brand new, sealed box. Very carefully removed the wires from the white switch and installed the almond switch. Works perfectly manually, little blue light works fine, but will not include/exclude with the VeraLite. Have tried 3" away and 30’ away, on battery and a/c power through the web interface. It’s just doesn’t get recognized. Any suggestions?

If you wired it correctly and you performed an exclude and it still won’t include, then I would assume a bad switch. Return and replace.

It won’t even exclude >:(

Went ahead and ordered another switch. Will see if that works any better when it arrives next week.

OK - now we have a real head scratcher. Received a second 3way switch this morning, same results. VeraLite won’t exclude or include the switch either on battery or through the web interface. The only differece I could see between the two new GE/Jasco switches and the White GE switch was a sticker on the front of the switch with a 4 digit code. The GE/Jascos were 13XX, the GE was 14XX. Aha says I - the Jascos are an older version. So I went back to the original working switch. It won’t recognize (exclude or include) either.

The VeraLite had no problem recognizing a Kwikset lock or a Linear garage door opener. What am I missing?

Thank you… I did check it with a volt meter and the Line/Load are on the right screws. The switch operates perfectly manually and the blue LED is showing the correct status, so I’m struggling to see how it could be a wiring problem.

One thing I haven’t tried is disconnecting the original GE Aux switch from the new Jasco master. I had assumed those were compatible, but maybe not?

Edit: Actually, I just realized it doesn’t work going back to the original GE Master, so that can’t be it. I may just do a factory reset on the VeraLite again and start with the lightswitch before I do the door lock and garage door opener. Maybe there’s something in those devices that is blocking the lightswitch.

Sigh. OK - apparently “tapping” is not the same as “pressing.”

Reread the instructions that came with the switch again and noticed that the pairing instructions used the word “tapping” to describe the action required to include or exclude. Since the switch is a rocker switch, I had been using the same pressure that I had been using to turn lights on and off. That is, a firm press of the button almost to the point of hearing the relay click.

This time I tried pressing the rocker switch very quickly and gently - boom, it paired right up.

Played with it a little more. The VeraLite browser still has issues with using the correct icons and nomenclature. I have a Linear garage door opener that uses the correct icon and nomenclature (Grey/Red Doors, open/closed status text). Veralite is using the same icons and nomenclature for both the garage door and light switch. Suspect it may be something that can be fixed on the Advanced Parameters page, but don’t know enough about how those work.

Interestingly enough, the iOS client is a bit better. It’s using the correct icons for the light, a generic icon for the garage door and uses on/off for the garage door status.
