Has anyone tried this unit? 45631 / ZW5301 Zwave Group and Scene Controller.

I’m trying to reconcile what it means to have 4 Scene AND 4 Group control. What is a “group?” what does having control over a “group” mean? Scant details out there in Google-land.
Someone may be able to answer the question for you but just be aware that these are not shipping yet.
Amazon is shipping them now, with a 2-4week ship time frame. They must be close to availability.
I have a few of these and I’ve been having issues getting them to work with Vera properly using the latest UI4. I think there is something wrong Vera UI4 and these so Im not having any luck. I have a secondary network setup where Vera is NOT the primary and they work perfectly. These are very nice switches and Im sure they will work with Vera since all my other GE/Jasco stuff does, but with my latest firmware of UI4 they do not work properly.
Like all GE/Jasco products, they are excellent quality and powered by CR2032 batteries so they are super slimline and can be stuck almost anywhere
@ MyHomeServer:
Please explain the difference between being able to control 4 scenes and 4 Groups. Particularly, I am interested in examples of what you might be able to control with this unit when using the 4 group buttons, as I understand what it is to control 4 scenes.
Thanks,
Frank
Anyone out there can explain a “Group” versus a “scene?” In reality, can you control 8 somethings?
Thanks
Cant speak with certainty since I dont have that exact unit, but what I have found is that every manufacturer has their version of how to organize and group devices. Leviton’s approach is to group devices into “zones” and then each zone can have “scenes”.
it is highly unlikely that the “group” function on the GE device will map to a meaningful grouping structure in MiOS. What you will likely be able to do (at least you cant with leviton scene controllers) is to have a MiOS scene be activated when a “scene” button is pressed on the GE keypad. Given that you are using MiOS as the main controller anyway, this will likely suffice for what you want to do.

Save yourself hoursof frustration and use Vera as a secondary controller. Use the same brand all the way through…EG GE or Leviton Etc. Use the handheld remotes to setup the system and the scene controllers. This will insure that the lights and buttons all work correctly.
I am using Leviton and the Scenes are setup for each button by assigning it to Devices or Groups. Every manufacturer does it a little different and with different terminology so be cautious what you buy.
The Leviton Scene controllers and Zone controllers work great by the way…don’t know about the rest.
