GE/Jasco 12722 Instant Status???

I was comparing switches here: Z-Wave Smart Dimmers, Switches & Fan Controllers | HomeSeer

And it says the 12722 supports instant status, but, from what I can tell, it does not, it has to be polled before it is updated. Is Homeseer wrong, or is there some variable that is not in the manual that I need to set?

I have alot of GE swtiches. They dont officially support instant status but they act as if they do. You can search a few threads on it here. Only one that doesnt is the aux switch on a 3 way. That takes time to update.

I never have issues with them delaying but i wouldn’t use them to try and trigger another switch or activate a scene that you need to come on at the same time your turning in that switch just to be safe.

That is my exact issue. I have wifi controlled MI-Lights and still want a switch on the wall in a few locations. It does work, but it works eventually. I need something to update the Vera status instantly when someone flips on the switch.

These switches should have a pseudo instant status if only routed directly to the Vera, but I can quite figure out how manual routing works to ONLY go directly to the Vera 3 UI5.

So then you need an instant status switch or move your Vera closer to that switch. But if your using it to trigger another light you should just use an instant status switch or you’ll just end up unhappy and disappointed in the performance.

Any recommendations? I hate the look of the Cooper Switches. I don’t mind the Insteon switches, but I’ve read those can be pretty unreliable.

I do like the aesthetics of this switch, and it does say “Scene Capable” but I am not sure if it is instant status when used with the Vera:

That switch is only 27.00 on amazon. That seems to cheap and I know nothing about it. I suspect something fishy.

So are there any other instant update switches besides the Cooper?

Leviton for sure.

This particular Leviton (and the others at Home Depot) does not support instant status. There is a “hack” however that makes it function like it has instant status. The 1 caveat is that the switch must be close enough to talk to Vera directly. Read this thread: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,26227.0.html. It will tell you about files you need to install and some startup LUA additions. After that, they have instant status.

Device options, Manual Z-Wave route (advanced). Put a zero in that field - zero is Vera itself. If that doesn’t work well, you can blank it out and it will go back to auto-routing. Search on manual z-wave route…
