GE - IS-ZW-TSTAT-100 Problems

Doe anyone have one of these working with Vera? I have Vera lite and 2 of these thermostats. I seem to be able to add them fine to Vera, but the system does not seem to be able to communicate with them. I did try removing and adding again. I also moved the Vera so it was 5 feet from one of them. I get a message that says “Unable to get any information on node”. Also when I do a stress test all pings fail. The thermostat uses a z-wave USNAP module from Radio Thermostat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have 3 of these thermostats in my home, running with Vera Lite, for the past 6 months. On occasion one or more of them behave as you describe, i.e., Vera knows they exist but communication with them fails. In that case remove the top cover of the thermostat and press the “reset” button. This appears to fix whatever was the problem. The reset does not clear out the Z-wave programming in any way, it just reboots the thermostat’s own circuitry.

I’m not sure but I suspect that this problem of non-communication may be correlated with manual adjustment of the thermostat temperature setting, i.e., pressing the up or down button on the thermostat itself rather than using Vera to make changes. I have verified, though, that changing the heat setting with the thermostat’s buttons will cause the cool temperature setting to fluctuate randomly. The converse is also true, i.e., changing the cool setting at the thermostat causes the heat setting to vary randomly. This is not in practice a serious issue since usually the system is either in heat or cool mode only for the season. However it is slightly disconcerting.

I think the bottom line is this: avoid changing the thermostat setting directly - always use Vera to make changes.

I have a couple of these running on VeraLite as well. I am using one to turn on the heater in my garage where the climate is quite cold. It is constantly resetting itself to 65 degrees. I would like it to run at 55 degrees. I only use AUTO HEAT mode.

Does anyone have an idea what could be changing the setting?

The second unit I have, I use to operate an exhaust fan in a climate where it is quite warm. I leave it set for 85 degrees. It works fine.

Puzzled…
