I have a Magic Chef 5.8 beverage cooler and would like to use the GE appliance module rated at 1/2 hp motor load or 1800W resistive load. Anyone know what the beverage cooler uses? It is wedged in tight so cant pull it out easily to look at the plate on the back. The manual only says you need 15 or 20 amp power supply. The cooler has no off switch so the only way to turn it off is to unplug it, which requires pulling it out.
Is it on a 15A or a 20A circuit? Anything else on that circuit?
It is a 15 amp circuit and i believe just the outlets in the basement are in the circuit, not including the TV/stereo/ps3 etc. The outlets are used for a computer, phone, recharging devices and the beverage cooler.
OK, so the cooler must be under 15A. That will probably work with the GE appliance module.
Instead of the GE Appliance Module you could also use the GE 45605 Z-Wave Technology Duplex Receptacle to give it a cleaner look and for it to be hard wired in.
Turns out that they are on sale on Amazon right now for 23 beans. Good luck finding these at your local Radio Shack, they’ve been mostly all bought out due to Radio Shacks clearance sale on Z Wave Products.
*MAXIMUM LOAD OF Z-WAVE OUTLET: 600W, 1/2 HP MOTOR; MAXIMUM COMBINED LOAD OF BOTH OUTLETS: 15A, 1800W, RESISTIVE.
thanks everyone…I installed it and works great. Went with the plug in module since it is hidden from view, and got it cheap at radio shack.
