I have a new build, and am asking the builder to have the electrician install the GE 45605 outlets. He said that he needed to talk to the electrician because he doesn’t think they meet MI code.
Can anyone let me know if there are resources I can look at to find out about this?
You could read the code. I found this 2011 Ed. Michigan Electric code. But why? Your electrician is the best resource for this question.
I know nothing about the specifics of Michigan’s(?) electrical code. I do know that the GE 45605 is UL and FCC listed and complies with the National Electric Code(NEC) that most localities adopt as their own. There are some places though that have additional or more stringent code than NEC.
Of the 5 I installed, I am only using 2 (for a wall fountain). Other than that, Hue lights have taken over (which need to be always on). I could use them more often, but need the energy meters built in to the Aeon Smart Switch for any device that varies the watts used.
Even if you can’t wire, I would have them install an extra gang (and just put a blanking panel) for every major room light switch. This will allow you to install scene controllers in the future.

I was going to have them install the Aeotech Microwave Dimmer for each switch. Probably a bit overkill, but it’s less painful to do it now, rather than do it later…
