I just installed a few of these and was wondering what the “Energy Used” setting is for? Will this report the amount of power that the switch’s load is using?
Thanks,
Andy

Just guessing from the description but I suggest that is gives total kWh used so far wheras an energy using would show current kW in use.
kWh is cumulative
kW is instantaneous
Thanks Slartibartfast,
I was thinking the same, but this field seems like it it needs to be filled in with some data as I can click in the fillable box and type something. Also was wondering if the 12722 switch supported any power reporting.
Thanks,
Andy
I don’t know the GE range but again guessing. You would want to reset the accumulated occasionally. Best bet is try using it and see what it records and then set back to zero and try again. If we are correct it should slowly increase until reset and then start again.
I always believe you learn more by trying things to see what happens.
I don’t bother with power monitoring myself so i cant be too helpful.
The GE/Jasco switches do not provide any sort of energy use reporting. Few switches do, at this time, but the number is growing.
The Energy Used field appears on all load controlling devices within the Vera GUI. It allows you to manually specify the wattage of that switch’s load. This allows you to specify energy usage information for energy consumption monitoring purposes. This field is important to the (demon spawn)Ergy plugin as well as other plugins that might track energy usage.
Thanks Z-Waver and Slartibartfast. I was hoping that I could get some readings from these switches but at least now I understand what that field is for. The Vera community is really what separates this platform from the rest!
