Garage / Security Light add

ok - I’m a noob compared to MOST on here, but thought I’d provide my $.02 on a project I just completed for those looking for similar solution.

My project - add a low cost light to allow me to transit through the garage when its dark outside. (yes my wife parks in garage and doesnt appreciate this solution). I get around ok with ZWave and always looking for something to add to the system.

So after researching small lights I settled on an appliance module plugged in besides garage door opener and a 10W LED type flood light.

Esco-Lite 10W Warm White LED Floodlight Waterproof IP66 $15.52 Amazon Prime

Everspring AN128 Z-Wave On/Off Appliance Module $32.95 Amazon Prime

You know how to add the appliance module, but I’d like to let you know that this small 10W floodlight is awesome…exactly what I was looking for. Its very small, light and of course low powered. I forget where I saw this as a recommendation, but thank you if it was one of you. So, adding the module took 5min’s, installing the light took 5mins (ok not really that long for either) and the only thing I wasn’t sure about was how I would contol the scene.

My scenario needing logic solution: enter front side door (door sensor) - turn on light (did i mention how awesome the light is???), walk thru area where a 4n1 sensor could also be used – go inside — turn off light (I chose 2mins for it to stay on). BUT (2d scenario) I also wanted to NOT run all three garage lights on when I took the dog out for the final security checks of the night (ok, maybe we’re really tinkling before bed). [ if you find my post asking for logic help, I thought both doors had door sensor — I was wrong, but I have 4n1 sensor just above the door from house into garage that I put in there for TEMP monitoring]

What I chose to enact the light on/off scenario are two separate triggers. From outside: door open caused line on, I elected to disarm door and 4n1 sensor 10 secs later (just incase I went back out or the motion caused another scene to happen), then after two minutes light off and both sensors re-armed. For the LUNA script I added return luup.is_night() so the trigger would only occur at night. [Most likely I will experiment with setting this 30mins before sunset until sunrise] The second trigger is same, except I used the motion sensor of the 4n1 as I went to the outside, same type functionality as far as triggerscene.

So in summary, This $50 project has given me a simple on/off flood light for the garage. (Did I mention how much I liked the small flood light?) If you are looking for a small, low cost solution maybe this helped a bit!

Thankx for all of you in this community that helps us noobs out ~~
