I’ve been using the LFM-20 as my garage door opener “interface” for almost 2 years…never had to touch it after I installed it. No problems with lockups here.
Decided to go with the Z-wave outlets (they were only $18 each) and the 120v relays from Radioshack. Got it all working… what did you do with the relays? I just have it sitting unprotected on top of the garage door openers. Anyone find a nice little case to put them in?
Thanks,
Roy

I used an outlet enclosure like this from home depot and mounted it to the ceiling with the relay inside: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Multi-Mac-1-Gang-While-in-Use-Receptacle-Cover-Enclosure-MM410C-8/100173013#.UXaNP0qyJnY
Most of my home automation projects at my home has been a success, thanks to the members on the forum. Garage door is the next project I want to start working on and I read a lot of different ways to do it. Guys I am not into electrical stuffs and have extremely less idea about wiring a d stuff. Can some point me to a very simple way of setting up the garage door on zwave so that I can manage it over the phone. Later I will add the door sensor but for starters can someone guide me to a step by step documentation or pictorial?
We’ve just had an electric roller door installed with a Chamberlain/Liftmaster RDO800 motor. This motor is normally controlled with their RF433 (rolling codes) remotes, but has also got the option to add a wired switch (keypad or turn key). I’m planning to add a Fibaro relay to it, so I can open/close it with the Vera Lite.
I’ve also installed a Fibaro Universal Binary Sensor near it with one input monitoring a magnetic contact and the other attached to a pull cord switch which will raise an alert if the door is opened manually by the external release cord (should NEVER be used, it is there for emergency access if the power is down). I took some pictures here: Dropbox - Error - Simplify your life
Rather pleased with it all
You should be all set to use the Garage Door plugin.
Will make your garage door (Position Sensor and Fibaro relay) look like a lock …

I put mine Relays inside the box that has the doorbell wires coming out of the ceiling for the switch next to the door. You can see from the photo I used the Intermatic CA3500 (got 6 for $99 on ebay) on the left, then the wire runs from the switch to a relay inside the cover with a whole in the middle then I run 2 wires from the relay to the garage door opener. nice and clean for the Wife Acceptance Factor.
Picked up a nice little plastic project box and some 1/4" grommets. Cut the end off a PC power cord and got some thin 2 conductor wire. Soldered the wires to the relay connectors and used a little hot glue to secure the cables through the grommets. Put a little dab on the the relay to keep it from moving around in the box. Looks pretty nice.
Thanks for the ideas… works great.
One bit of advice, put 2 or 3 delayed off signals to make SURE it turns the outlet off. I put one at 1, 3 and 5 seconds.
Hello RichardtSchaefer !

Thanks

The link to the app is located below and RTS has an update to rectify reporting.
Hey All, I was getting ready to order all the parts necessary to follow N5NHL’s instructions for the garage door automation when I found the following on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Remotec-Zwave-Contact-Fixture-Module/dp/B00913ATFI/ref=pd_rhf_se_s_cp_3_205Y
According to the product description “The relay on this device is isolated from the power line, so it can be used to switch any load, including low voltage types” So my question is, can this be used to replace the Z-Wave outlet switch and the 110V relay?
I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed before… I swear, I did search.
To those of you that have PMed me on this topic I apologize but I can’t seem to reply. Maybe Newbies aren’t allowed to PM or I’ve set something in my profile wrong.

Yes. Try searching for ZFM-80. I am using these for my garage door and fireplace.

jmedemar, perfect, that’s what I needed to know. Which door position sensor are you using? I’m planning on using the garage door plugin. Thanks
I am using the Aeon Labs door/window sensor. I have been using them together with RTS’s garage door plugin for months now with no problems.
Hello Folks !
I am working with itach wifi to cc and my shade now is acessible by vera thanks to this affordable device.
one detail…
itach left closed after I touch to up… and i need to press off to free this contact to use another switch to down.
is some way to itach after I click to close contact after a time free this contact to my shade stay ok to next action I need ?
one more time vera surprising allowing a beginner like me solve a problem without a specialist.
Here is how I controlled garage door via Vera. $20 in parts. Low voltage wiring (CLass 2) so I don’t violate NEC.
Works great. Added a camera for added safety.
Update…
Modified scene to trigger upon detection of the receptacle being turned on. Wait 2 seconds then turn off the receptacle. I never run this scene just have it running in the back ground. Whenever I “turn on” the garage door it automatically turns off a couple seconds later. This simulates a button press.
Hey Piwtorak
To automatically turn off the contact relay after a couple seconds, I created a scene that is triggered when the relay is turned on, and added luup event of ‘luup.sleep(2000)’; action is to turn the same relay off. The sleep interval is in milliseconds. So, 2000= 2 seconds. I use this to pulse my garage door opener.
After a power outage, do the zwave outlets (like CA3500) default to “ON” when power is restored or go to their last state? Would be pretty bad to have power come back on and have all your garage doors open up…
all zwave devices goes to last state.

Hi Richard
You might have already done this but I was wondering if the garage door plugin had been updated at all to work with the DSC Alarm Panels programmable outputs (PGM Outputs)?
I changed my garage door opener to use a 12v relay powered / controlled by my PGM Output on my alarm panel but this then stopped the garage door plugin from working for this door.
A simple scene still allows me to open / close the door but not really use the sensor to see the status like the plugin does.
Thanks
