I’m a new Vera3 customer and recently with the help of RichardTSchaefer I was able to get the Garage Door monitoring setup. I’m in the process of trying to get the Irrigation Caddy going next - although it has a seperate app which is pretty good. I figured I’d post my setup for any that are curious :slight_smile: I use Vera to control the garage door using an itach which simulates button presses on a spare garage door remote (both garage doors). I’m using an Everspring sensor to monitor the garage door position. I modified the senson by soldering in a gate/wide contact mag/reed switch which sits at the top of the garage door. The setup has worked quite well - I also immediately modified the Vera3 with a larger antenna (thanks to the thread that covered that). Enjoy the pic :slight_smile:

nice enclosures! Where did you get them?

The enclosures are Hunter Pro C irrigation controller boxes - I had 1 from the original irrigation controller and ordered another on ebay ($25 bucks) to match. I have the itach and spare remote in the garage next to the irrigation controller. It worked out well since its close to the garage door openers and I already had run a cat5 cable to the irrigation controller (i wired a single cat5 for 2 seperate connections). Not the best practice but it works fine :slight_smile: I also used the irrigation system power supply (24vt AC) for the itach via a CCTV adapter (24Vt AC to 12VT DC).

Pricing seems high by the time you get any of the options but there door sensor is very interesting.

Easiest way I found to do the garage door without hacking something up is to use the fortrezz mimolite which works with vera.

Mimolite looks cool, I might get one to replace my current solution which is Bluetooth.

I used basically a BTMate (just a bluetooth headset with a transistor to fashion a relay that triggers on bluetooth connection). I have a server at home I paired with it over bluetooth, and a simple web service to control it.

Mimolite+Vera seems simpler and more integrated :wink:

For sensing, I have a DSC alarm hooked up to Vera and a tilt sensor on the top panel works perfectly.
