So I used a door sensor to monitor my garage’s fridge door, the kids are not that good at closing the door after getting an ice cream …
(I am new to all of this)
I can see my Vera lite getting the door open / door closed signal, but I am wondering what is the best way to surface this information in the house. I don’t think that using txt message or email is the bets for this, as we need something a little more “in your face”, like a light.
1- Can someone recommend a good way to bubble up this alert? I think a Z Wave security siren seems a little too much also, ideally, I would love to set up a small light
2- Alternatively, I am planning to have a wall mounted Android device as the automation control screen, perhaps there is a widget that can be added that will alert us ?
3- On the setup side, ideally, I would love this alert to be shown after 3 minutes, with the door being open, not immediately on each opening. What should I do in order to delay this ?
fridgeopen frigedooropen and (fridgedooropen;now > 3:00)
fridgeclosed NOT fridgedooropen
then add a action to fridgeopen to turn on any light you want. You can use for example any plug in dimmer or on/off module to turn on a light to alert you to the fridge door being open. You just need to add another action fridgeclosed to turn off the light again once the door has been shut.
Bingo.
I guess I can use a led/siren z wave from iris to do this. Anyone knows if I can light up the LED on these w/o the siren ? I don’t need ot alert the neighborhood that my fridge’s door is open
