Fribaro 2x Relay Module

I am installing a 2x Relay module but dont want to include any switches since this will be in the loft. After cabling in the relay it didnt have any power or lights active on the module.

Is it a prerequisite to have a switch installed?
I wonder if its faulty…

No. I have several of these working entirely remotely with no physical switches attached.
