I know this should be possible, but i think I am doing something wrong. I am also experiencing a strange freeze on vera while fiddling with this…
This is what I did:
- Attached one BAFO USB2Serial converter through a USB hub to Vera
- Verified that the Somfy blinds RS232 controller is working by sending a direct command to device #4 which is what vera assigned to this controller
- Attached a second BAFO USB2Serial converted to the USB hub
- On Vera’s WEB UI, I was expecting the the serial adapter to appear, but it did not. I looked under devices–>Luup–>Serial port configurator. Only my previous RS232 controller was there
- I clicked “save” as I believe that triggers vera to look for adapters. Soon after zwave started configuring, and then a RED error indicator arrived for the existing somfy controller right below “zwave configuration…” label.
- Still only one RS232 adapter is visible…
- I tried to get rid of the error, but looking at the advanced section of the somfy controller. Here the parameter"controlled by device:" was set to zwave??? Why I have no idea. I changed it to “pl2303[]”. When doing this I noticed that there were two entries with that label in the list. This ‘could’ be because there are two of them connected to vera. Still only one was visible under “configure serial port”
- When clicking save, vera froze up. I then tried to reload the browser and it suggested that I restarted vera. After powering vera off/on the web interface reported “Communication error while retrieving local database.”. This lockup repeated itself after several retries.
The only solution I could think off was to double tap the black reset button, and start from the ground again…
Any ideas as to
- why vera freezes like this?
- how to add two (and later several more) serial adapters to vera
