Foscam FI9826P

I am just looking to verify that I got this thing set up correctly. So I bought this camera to play with before I add some to the outside of my house. It pretty much has all of the features offered by better cameras so I wanted to play with them to see what features were good and those that are gimmicky. Anyhow, I managed to get this thing installed in my Vera 3 UI7 after several failed attempts and just want to make sure I have it doing all that it is supposed to do. I had no expectations so I wouldn’t know if I didn’t get it right or If I am missing anything.

The camera image displays on the dashboard with a Play button that takes you to an expanded control view. On this view I have pan/tilt controls on the 4 sides of the image with 8 preset possibilities. What appears to be distinctly missing is any way to zoom this camera, switch it to IR, interface with the motion sensor, patrol, or hear audio. These are all features of the camera. If Vera doesn’t support these features, I just want to know since you have to jump on one leg, sing a few bars of “Dream a Little Dream” and shake a dreamcatcher over your head to install it. Maybe I missed something on step 73.

One of the things that I had to add manually was the DirectStreamingURL which seemed to make no difference whatsoever in the functionality but was mentioned all over the forum regarding what it should be set to. Although nobody seemed to need to have to actually create this variable, mention what it’s service Id was, or discuss its use, I used urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:Camera1 and believe it is simply a rabbit hole. It’s like a best kept secret… if you know what it is for or my service Id is wrong whisper it in a reply. It appears that the image is simply acquired in an HTML image tag using a snapshot acquired through the URL variable, so it has no bearing on that. The record button doesn’t seem do anything so maybe it is for that.

I do suspect that the final implementation will include either a dedicated DVR or BlueIris but for now I want to see what we can do to these devices on Vera.

I believe the Vera driver does not support zoom at this time. mcvflorin should be able to give you the skinny on that as he created that driver…
