Foscam FI8918W - archiving and recording

Wonder anyone have idea about how to configure the recording of the Foscam FI8918W?

I am able to setup and working fine with viewing through VERA, as well as pan and tilt.
however, i am having difficulty of making the archive work, such as capture picture and taking video.

I wonder where are the picture and video save? ??? ???

please help.

You have to put the camera’s MAC address in the camera control panel (the wrench button) >> Settings tab >> MAC Address field for archiving to work.

I have entered the MAC address. but it still doesn’t work. however i removed and tried to add again, the picture capture now working.

but for video recording, under the camera archives screen, i only able to view the pictures captured. the video will display as 0000-00-00 00:00:00.

any idea??

Are you trying to record and archive video images using Vera or using the Foscam Real-time IP Camera Montoring System? My experience is that Vera is not capable of doing a good job of capturing Foscam images at this time. If you are using the Foscam Monitoring System, you can find a great deal of useful information on the Foscam User Forum. The forum can be accessed via http://www.foscam.us. One post that you might find useful is called: Tips on Configuring and Using the Foscam F18918W:

From what I have learned from a cursoring reading on the Foscam forum, if you want to record video you might need to use a browser to access the Foscam Real-tim IP Camera Montoring System because the browser is being used to record the video. (You may have IE browser). Also, the browser needs to have access to the directories you have declared to be Set Record Path and Set Alarm Record path. These paths can be set via an IE browser in the Users Settings tab of the Real-time IP Camera Monitoring System.

If you are using the Foscam Monitoring System, have Alarm Services Settings activated, and motion is detected, the system will begin recording images in your Record path directories. In my case it recorded images even when I had not set the Upload Images on Alarm variable and tried to set the Record Path to NUL. Also, I discovered, the only way to prevent images from being recorded when motion was detected was to close my IE browser. I have not thoroughly studied this Foscam functionality. One area that needs further study is to determine if the Foscam camera can record video without using a browser. It might not be able to do so. I do know from experience that it works well under the right set of conditions.

I am also having this issue.
I’ve got the foscam up and working perfect except for recording video. :frowning:
It only captures a photo.

I have the same issue. Everything works except video record. (Have entered the MAC)

Per mvcflorin - “Video archiving currently doesn’t work properly. We’re working on a new multimedia server to fix this, which should be ready by the end of the year.”

Okay so… Video archiving doesn’t work at all for any ip camera or are there some cameras that do work?

At this moment you cannot save videos from your cameras, but in the next couple of months we will release a premium service that will allow you to store videos on our servers at a monthly fee. Pricing is $2.99 per month for 1 GB of storage and 4 GB of transfer.
