Hi all,
I don’t normally post for the sake of posting but couldn’t see anyone else that achieved this in the forums, so now I’ve done it I thought I’d post how.

have you update to firmware 1.7.318?
I tried setting PTZ via my motion sensors on the Vera. Was just simple HTTP request to the camera to go to a preset location using Luup.
The problem is the Foscam’s have horrible servos that aren’t precise and the camera quickly drifts left or right. I couldn’t go 3 days without it not showing the proper picture and needing to manually move the camera back or redo the presets.
Ended up returning the 4 x $199 Foscam FI9826W FosCam PTZ’s. Ended up with 9 x $100 fixed cameras (Dahua 720p 3.6mm wide angle IR POE) that get powered/networked by a single Cat5.
Dahua or Hikvision are the way to go. Just replaced all my cheap Foscam cameras that have been in service for a few years with Hikvision. I’m very happy with them and 100 times better than Foscam.

which model you go with? I’m looking to upgrade my 921w V2 foscams. Did you go with PTZ and with mic and stuff like the foscams?
Are you using HD cameras ? I have a lot of problems with disappearing picture on the camera device in Vera, and if there is something to replace my Foscams…
All my cameras disappear in Vera (or go static image that doesn’t change). I think it’s a Vera thing and not a camera thing.

I have always used Blue Iris to record, but had my cameras in Vera to view. I had the same problem only when viewing from the UI. I switched to the blue Iris plugin and that took care of that problem.

I had the same experience, I’m now using the BlueIris plugin and it has made a big difference, wouldn’t do it any other way.
Now I just need to switch out my Foscam’s for the Hikvision 3MP camera’s with audio. Go to youtube and check out the video from a DS-2CD2532F. These are mini domes, I will loose the pan and tilt but for the same price the quality in video is amazing.
