FOSCAM F18918W cam setup!!! Impossible to get right without the help of a wiz:(

I hope you dont mind if i add onto this thread. I have the same problem. Instructions seem to sound so easy and people just say “oh you just do this” and it sounds so easy yet it does not work. No idea why this happens anyway, here is my setup. Can someone who knows this stuff PLEASE tell me what my setup must be so I can get my camera to work outside!

I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and a Optus ADSL2 modem

The information i DO know about my network is simple.
The IP address of the router is 192.168.1.1
subnet mask is 255.255.255.0
Then the internet configuration type section of the router says
DHCP
10.1.1.2 ( ?? )
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
default gateway 10.1.1.1
DNS 1 10.1.1.1

so what does all that mean?

anyway
all my devices, computers, ipad, iphone etc, get their IP’s from the router, all starting with 100
So they are 192.168.1.100 etc

I want to fix the camera IP to 192.168.1.100

so what do i put in the “basic network settings” in the camera?
Im not game to put in the settings I think, because I know if its wrong (and lets face it, it will be if I do it) I wont be able to connect to it anymore wirelessly.

and how do i get it to work to the internet???

please help, they shouldnt make this stuff so black magic!!!

cheers and thanks in advance!

Since your router is giving dhcp addresses from 192.168.1.100 and up, you better give devices that you like a static ip address an ip that is not in the 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.254 range.

For example give the next device e.g. your camera the ip address 192.168.1.99 and if you have another device that you would like to give an static ip address give it 192.168.1.98 and so on…

You can take over the subnetmask and gateway, summing up for your cam:
192.168.1.99 ip
255.255.255.0 subnet
192.168.1.1 default gateway
