Foscam camera no motion sensor

Hi all,

I’ve been running with one foscam PTZ camera for over half a year with no problems. I have the motion sensor, and it dit work ok. I recently bought 2 more foscams. Vera automatically added those while I was configuring them (I saw so later on). After all configging was done the 2 camera’s were working ok on WiFi. So then I wanted to add them in Vera. At that point I noticed the Vera had seen them with the IP adresses issued by my DHCP server. That was not correct anymore cause I gave them fixed IP’s. So I deleted those 2 camera’s in Vera, re-added them manually with correct IP and login. Then I got an image, but I never got the sensor. You have to set the MotionMD to another value. Problem is, at my new cams I dont have a motionMD field. Only at the existing cam I see such a field.
I tried all kinds of stuff, even deleted the old cam and re-added it. But that one now also has the same problem :frowning:
Maybe there’s something going on with the foscam plugin, it can automatically update itself, it’s now at 2.6, half a year ago it would have been 2.2 I think.

My motion detection option is active in the Foscams. I did switch off UPnP in the camera’s, maybe Vera needs that to detect certain settings, so I switched it back on, rebooted Vera, still no luck. Tried to re-add one of the camera’s after deleting it, no sensor :frowning:
I think the next thing I’ll do is to default one of the cams and try to see if that does work. Maybe there’s an issue with the Qnap NAS I use for video recording on motion detection with these cams.

Look in the Advanced tab of the camera for a variable called ‘ConfiguredMD’ or ‘State’ (depending on the version of the Foscam Plugin you are running. V2.6 will have the ‘State’ variable.). Change this Value to ‘0’ and then Save. Refresh your browser and see if that works.

That was the solution! Thx!
I am running the newest version, which is 2.6. Plugin updates itsself automatically and I never realised the name of the variable had changed.

Hello cruiser

Can you say what qnap model you have and how you made the integration with foscam cameras to him?

I have a TS-439 Pro II, it standard comes with Surveillance Station.
If you’re running new software on it, there is support for a few SD Foscam camera’s. I have 4 FI8918’s attached to it.

Yes I learned that the hard way as well. This makes me wonder how code/functionality changes are tracked or documented. Normally the developer will post what has changed in the applicable thread or wiki, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with this plugin (the wiki still references ConfiguredMD). I haven’t found any source informing that the ConfiguredMD value was changed to State.

I’m sure that this would be low on @mcvflorin to-do list. There are plenty of bigger fish to fry.
