Fortrezz sensor showing at Motion Sensor

Anyone know why my Fortrezz sensor is showing up in Vera as a Motion sensor? Doesnt seem to know it reports temp too.

I sent it back to Fortrezz to fix, then when I re-include it it just shows as a Motion sensor, How can I get it to tell temp?

Same thing on .616, but it does report temperature

Bummer, I can attest that this was working in older version of the firmware. I hope to see MCV get this fixed ASAP, this is something I want to use as a temp sensor and base scenes off this temp, not simply wait for it to fall below 36 degrees.

I also see lots more devices on the shelf that Fortrezz is working on, and I see some great potential for these devices in watering and irrigation needs, as well as safety shutoff’s if there is a leak. I hope MCV gets working on testing these devices from Fortrezz and adding support for them soon.

Does anyone have this Fortrezz Sensor showing temp? What version are you using?

thanks!

i’m brand new to using this and can’t get the Fortrezz sensor to work right either in the newest firmware.

Bummer, this thing worked perfectly in my last firmware before .979…I really hope MCV fixes these devices that WERE working, I’m getting frustrated having all of these things I “COULD” do but can’t due to many things just horribly broken.

MCV, can you guys open a ticket/bug fix on this???

Have you created a support ticket from Support page on Vera?

How do you discern Freeze alarm from Water alarm in Vera scenes?

No, I have not created a support ticket but will shortly. I spoke with ZMistro and his works showing temp in 979, but it was included in the network already BEFORE the update. Mine was re-added after 979 and no go…

You can’t discern between a freeze alarm and water, they trigger the same flag. If you could see the temp, then I think you could figure it out, but without temp reports, this device really doesnt offer too much in Vera for usability

i restored to factory defaults and it seems to be working just fine now! i let it sit for quite a while after it was reset and after adding the device so possibly my fiddling with it prior caused problems. going to try setting up scenes with it now

That’s not what I’d call proper support. WWA-01 manual clearly explains how two signals can be discerned, so I guess we could add this to the support ticket

• The WWA-01 sends the Basic Set Command to the associated nodes assigned to Group to convey that a Water Alarm is active. If no nodes are assigned to Group 1, then a Binary Sensor Report (value = OxFF) is broadcast. The reports are sent at
regular intervals while the water alarm is active. When the water alarm is cleared via the button, one additional report (with status = no alarm) is sent.
• The WWA-01 sends the Basic Set Command to the associated nodes assigned to Group2 to convey that a Freeze Alarm is active. If no nodes are assigned to Group 2, then a Binary Sensor Report (value = OxFF) is broadcast. The reports are sent at
regular intervals while the freeze alarm is active. When the freeze alarm is cleared due to temperature rise, one additional report (with status = no alarm) is sent.

P.S. I created Mantis bug on this: 0000748

Hi,

Thanks for the mantis, we will look over this.

Thanks MCV, I’d really like to see you guys add proper support for all the Fortrezz devices, they have a ton of new irrigation and alarm modules coming out and I’d love to use all of them with Vera. Im sure if you contact Carl over there you can get pre-production modules to test and work on.

thanks

When you say “restored to defaults” what did you reset? Vera or the Fortrezz? Please explain, with tons of scenes and lots of devices, I really don’t want to have to re-add my whole network back into Vera

Thanks for any info you can provide on the steps you took

Hi myhomeserver, I think he’s referring to the Vera’s factory restore. We will try to contact Carl and discuss about this products. If not the devices, at least the full datasheet which can help us embed them into Vera.

Im not sure what exactly I did other than try to take the battery out, and tried a few times to EXCLUDE (dongle flashing very fast in EXCLUDE mode and hit config button on the fortrezz) and REINCLUDE (dongle flashing slower in INCLUDE mode and hit config button on the fortrezz) a few times. Nothing new, but it showed as a motion sensor again, and I assigned it to a room.

After 4 hours or so, I saw that there was a temp shown below the motion sensor. So, it appears to be working.

If you can’t get this working, try the steps above. My only issue now is I see the older “motion sensor” device and no matter what I can’t get rid of this device, even using “remove dead node” - it gives me “delivery failed”

I’m glad it’s working. Sometimes dead nodes just eventually disappear, and sometimes restarting Vera will do it. If the dead node persists, I’d try a different tack. To delete a dead node, that node needs to be powered off so the system no longer sees it and so thinks it is indeed dead. I’d try moving the sensor out of range of your system and then do a remove dead node again. Then bring it back to its normal position. Just an idea. The experts can chime in and tell you what’s really happening and how to fix it.

It seems anything which can be tripped (and/or armed) is treated like Motion sensor in Vera…

Weird, we will test this tomorrow and return with our conclusion.

Any more info on this and your testing? I got it working and it was reporting a temp of 73 degrees. I then wanted to move it to my basement under the water heater which is right near an outdoor appliance module. The Freeze Sensor doesnt show temp now. Whats the best wakeup time? When I set a wakeup interval, should I then go click the button on the sensor?

My next project is to ditch the battery on this and make a wall plug for it so I can set wakeup interval very short

Just as a reminder. Z-Wave devices should always be included as close to where they are going to be installed as possible. Besides network issues there may be enviroment issues that have to be taken into consideration. You would not notice/find these if you included on the bench and then move the devices.
